Moshiach 18 - Armageddon 2024-2025

Why does the world need to go through an intense Armageddon in order to lead into the days of Moshiach? Why did the process of this year's leap year seem to fizzle at the end of Adar II and then start to move again as the months passed? Why does the 1500 year old Midrash say 3 times to the people of Israel - do not fear - in the face of a destructive world war involving Iran? What is the concept of two sets of 6 months of the year that reflect two sides of the year's progress - the winter months and the summer months? What other parallels can we find between the years 1948 and 2024, 1929 and 2005, 1967 and 2043? Why did Rav Moshe Shternbuch express such worry in the months leading up to October 7th, and what did he say about how the war in Israel would affect the entire world? Why do we see that the second part of the leap year seems to be when the 'action' happens if we talked previously about the first part of the year being the ibur-pregnancy? In the last Moshiach podcast I spoke about 3 time periods:
1. 9 months from Av of last year until end of Adar II
2. 70 days from 25th of Adar II until 6th of Sivan
3. 70 days from Yom Yerushalayim to Tisha B'av
we find that in 2005 the Gush Katif debacle was scheduled for Tisha B'av and took place on the 10th of Av, and also in 1929 (which was also the 8th year of the 19 year cycle) the Chevron massacre was on the 17th-19th of Av.
but interestingly, and conversely, in 1948, there was a ceasefire from the 11th of Tammuz until the 11th of Elul, only then did the war continue until it finished on 9th of Adar in 1949.
There seems to be a broader 76 year cycle that repeats, so 1929 parallels 2005 and 1948 parallels 2024. 1967 and 2043 will also parallel.
There are actually two 9 month periods of the leap year (which especially manifests most strongly in the 8th and 19th year of the cycle b/c of close proximity to the previous leap year)
one starts in Av of the previous year and culminates at the end of Adar II - this is the Gevurah side of the year - the autumn/winter side.
The other starts in Shevat (which parallels Av) and culminates at the end of Elul - this is the Chesed side of the year - the spring/summer side
This was sparked in my mind because I was puzzled that at the end of the first set of 9 months (end of Adar II) there was a complete pull out of troops from gaza, and everything seemed to be coming to a standstill and not the huge forward movement I expected. but this would seem to be the first nine month set - the gevurah set coming to a close.
then as we progressed into the end of Nissan and on through Sivan, Tamuz the process seems to be expanding, we entered Rafiah, Biden is falling, Iranian president dies, now Haniyeh etc. this is the chesed/positive set moving forward. this would seem to indicate a major expansion of the process into Elul and Tishrei of next year, just as was the case in 1948-49.

11 Elul 5708 - - 9 Adar 5709 (15 Oct - 10 Mar 1949) - Third Phase

Egypt: 24 Feb 1949 - 25 Shvat 5709
Lebanon: 23 Mar - 22 Adar
Jordan: 3 Apr - 4 Nissan
Syria: 20 July - 23 Sivan
also note that the Arabs started attacking the Yishuv in 1947 already in November with the UN partition vote.

Thank you for posting this! Would you be able to share your version of the timelines you mentioned? If possible. Based on what I learned from many sources, speaking of the times right before Moshiach being extremely shaky with immorality in the world, things being opposite of truth, disrespect, etc. It creates a blur on the world as we experience everything going on. Even as we turn our sights away and cling to God during these times. This blurriness is also the cause of time feeling so fast. Quick days, months years, almost as if Hashem is literally speeding up time now to bring Moshiach faster amidst all of this in order to save us. This is my theory but I firmly believe it is why we feel so disoriented each day with all of this noise of the world. Thanks again for your insights and hopefully we can achieve that sense of calm finally in our redemption. -David

Ari, Yasher Koach! When speaking of 1929, it was not “just” the Hebron massacre, it was a series of riots and massacres that started by the Jaffa Gate in Jerusalem and spread throughout the country, including Hebron. (The impetus for this was a rumor about the Jews taking over their Har HaBayis)

So who is Gog? Eze 38:2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, Meshech and Tubal were located in modern Turkey. Turkey leads the Gog invasion. Russia is part of the coalition as the far north but Gog is chief prince of Meshech and Tubal which was in the ancient Turkey/Armenia area. Watch for Turkey to resurrect the ancient Ottoman rule of the middle east. Turkey is Gog check ancient middle east maps. Ezekiel 38-39 describes the Gog battle or battles depending on your perspective. It is very easy to determine the timing of the Gog/Magog war. If we look at the end of Eze 39 we see a set of conditions that can only be true at a particular time in history. Eze 39:21 And I will set my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them. Eze 39:22 So the house of Israel shall know that I am the LORD their God from that day and forward. Eze 39:23 And the heathen shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity: because they trespassed against me, therefore hid I my face from them, and gave them into the hand of their enemies: so fell they all by the sword. Eze 39:24 According to their uncleanness and according to their transgressions have I done unto them, and hid my face from them. Eze 39:25 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Now will I bring again the captivity of Jacob, and have mercy upon the whole house of Israel, and will be jealous for my holy name; Eze 39:26 After that they have borne their shame, and all their trespasses whereby they have trespassed against me, when they dwelt safely in their land, and none made them afraid. Eze 39:27 When I have brought them again from the people, and gathered them out of their enemies' lands, and am sanctified in them in the sight of many nations; Eze 39:28 Then shall they know that I am the LORD their God, which caused them to be led into captivity among the heathen: but I have gathered them unto their own land, and have left none of them any more there. Eze 39:29 Neither will I hide my face any more from them: for I have poured out my spirit upon the house of Israel, saith the Lord GOD. The conditions described at the end of Eze 39 can only occur at the end of the age. Israel knows God from that day forward, the gentiles will see the judgment God has dished out, God will pour His spirit out upon the house of Israel and no longer hide His face from Israel. God rescues Israel at the battle of Armageddon. So that makes the end of the Gog battle (Eze 39) line up with the timing of Armageddon. That makes Gog the AntiChrist which we see hinted at in Eze 38. Eze 38:17 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Art thou he of whom I have spoken in old time by my servants the prophets of Israel, which prophesied in those days many years that I would bring thee against them? God says the prophets of Israel wrote about Gog in their writings. This defines Gog as the AC since Armageddon is where God defeats the AC and company which is also the Gog war. When we search the OT for a battle in Israel that God defeats the enemies arrayed against Israel with Israel returning to the Lord for ever after. We find such descriptions in the Day of the Lord scriptures from the OT. The DOTL scriptures end with God defeating the armies invading Israel and Israel returning to the Lord for ever after just as we see in Eze 39. Peace, PTT

Moshiach and Gog can both be represented by more than one person. In the times of the Exodus, Moshiach was a team - Moshe, Aharon, Miriam. In the times between the two temples, the team was Esther and Mordechai. The 'Gog' in those cases was a single powerful person: Pharaoh and Haman. But Gog can be multiple people working together against Moshiach. In today's time, it is clearly the axis of evil - Iran-Russia-China-North Korea. And on the other side will be those who take the side of the people of Israel - the Jewish people are the 'Moshiach' of the world, and the nation who is a 'light unto the nations.' Be careful please when speaking to a traditional Orthodox Jew to not reference later texts than what you refer to as the 'Old Testament.' For us, there is only one Testament, and we were tortured and killed in the name of the 'new' one for millenia. I'm just asking for sensitivity. if you have come to learn from those who hold the 3300 year old tradition, please listen and learn without preaching. that's not to say you can't express your opinion, but keep it 'Kosher' for us. thanks.

Of course one can define it more broadly, but it seems to me that’s not the intent when we say “Ani Maamin Beviat Hamashiach.”
