Tommy is only in northern Sweden they are called palt in the rest of Sweden we say kroppkakor and we have fried onions in them too, the holy trinity of pork, potato and onion, yummy! And of course we eat them with butter and lingonberry jam.

Interesting! We have similar regional variations in the UK over what to call a baked bread roll. There must be 40 different names!

Kroppkakor and palt are not the same thing. Kroppkakor is made on boiled potatoes, palt on raw potatoes, which makes a very big difference in texture. Palt is more hard core, like the people in the north
