These past few weeks have helped me realize what a profound and elegant document the Book of Mosiah is. Thank you.

Sister Wilson mentioned two books she uses and suggested for reference The authors are Parry and Skousen. I went through the SC Archives but cannot identify which titles to which she was referring. Please give the titles and a URL for each would be helpful.

How important is the chiasmus? I’m not sure what that is. Is it important to the reading of the scriptures? I sure appreciate your knowledge and understanding of all you share with us. God blessings!🙏🏻❤️

@judycook643 the chiasmus is a literary structure of writing. It isn't important as far as knowing it necessarily, but it is evidence of the great effort the author of the text put into composing this record. Additionally, we didn't learn about this chiastic element until Brother Welch discovered it in 1967. It's further evidence that Joseph Smith certainly didn't write the Book of Mormon, rather it is truly an ancient record translated by the power of God. The structure is ABCCBA. An example is I like flowers They smell good I pick flowers When I pick flowers I bring them inside The flowers make my house smell nice I am thankful for flowers That's a poor example but maybe it will give you an idea of ABCCBA concept. ❤

So, MLK means "king"? Like MLK = Martin Luther King? Did his mother know something to give him those initials with that surname? Or is it just a coincidence?
@angelalewis36458 ай бұрын
I’ve noticed that, too! 😆 I’m sure it’s just a coincidence.

Clearly the people of King Benjamin were already baptized. His people had the baptism of fire and the holy ghost experience - we know that because they received a remission of sins, and became the children of Christ and took His name upon them. All of these are part of the baptism of fire and the holy ghost. They also entered into a covenant and we surely know that it was NOT baptism by water. I am not sure why this keeps getting taught...Alma the younger has the same experience.
