As a youngster, we had these types of songs to keep the rails in place. They were actually grown up songs that helped your maturity in the positive. Today's lyrics keeps one in perpetual immaturity. There's a difference.

This is a fabulous version of an old classic. I could see this used a back ground sound track for any film from that time in 71'. Leather Trench coat, Harlem streets in NYC, Bros doing whateva', sistas' lookin' hot in there natural do's, tight polyester pants on sista's with platforms walkin' & talkin' smack yep. Headbands, striped shirts, chokers. This song brings it all back. Good photosPeace 2 ya who remember

Songs from this era (The era I grew up in) just bring "TEARS" to my eyes. The photo of the woman is just my cover pix, "I'm a man speaking these words." This was a HUGE hit in the urban community. It was always being played on urban radio and mainstream radio would also blow this song up. (The other version) I would love to re-visit that time in my life (The 1960's & 70's) Those were the good times / best times of my life. Life was full of life, joy & happiness. I was a teenager in 1970, i got my first pair of Allstars (Chuck Taylors) tennis shoes, $11.95. This song rock and I ran to the record shop and brought the 45, $79 cent on sale. What happen? The answer: "TIME" is what happen........and it doesn't stand still no matter what. The soul of great music will always live on in the hearts of those who were there and still care. I thank God that I was brought forth in my mother womb (1957) to experience those times and memories.

If you never visited Los Angeles, CA, its like taking a trip back in time! They drive old cool cars, and play smooth sexy unforgettable music like this on the local radio stations. There's no place quite like it on earth...

A consciousness raiser through his music. That's what Norman Whitfield has been. i class such among the God sents who did not necessarily proclaim religion; as aloof from the secular, but were definitely God serving as living lights shining among men...upon men.
