Used to cruise the hood as kids blasting this til you felt that bass move through your soul. We partook in the flowers back then but mostly our group was hard sports. Im talkin freshman piitching 90mph fast ball. Hoop/FB. But cruising to this and mixes like it put us on that "natural high" that we didn't get and I havent had it again since. Although it brings back ALL the chill memories. This was 84 when you settled it with a fist fight and then forgot a bout it. Jumped back in the whip and busted out with Cutie Pie. Peace.

OH. MY. GAWD. The instrumentation on this joint is EPIC. It has one of the funkiest basslines on this planet. Sooooo smooth with the catchiest vocals and hook ever. "People always talking 'bout reputation. I don't care about your other girls... just be good to me!" It never gets old, this one.
Crazy how my parents are from Mexico, so I grew up in a Mexican household and I still embraced R&B music . Glad that I grew up in a diverse neighborhood Black n Brown South Side Richmond Easter Hill California . Shot out to the 80’s 90’s And all the OG’S.

Not crazy to me @el champeon. Good music is good music. Also I think radio stations played more variety then. I grew up in a Black American family outside of Seattle and mostly everyone was Swedish or Norwegian descent. We listened to everything back then. Rock, Dolly Parton & Kenny Rogers, Bob Denver, and all kinds of R&B music. I was a little kid, but oldest bro and sister were teens during this era. I remember opening my window so that I could listen to the teenagers conversations and their music. My siblings didn't want their little sisters around them all of the time. We had to follow along in secret. Ha!

I believe it’s the quality of speakers not the size. I’ve heard big speakers that sound terrible, while on the other hand I’ve listened to smaller quality speakers that sound amazing, but very expensive. Add a sub and the required bass is evident

I'm 35. As a young child I heard this song. I never knew who did it but I always wished I did. I've literally had this tune randomly stuck in my head all my life. I heard it today, googled the lyrics and found this. I'm totally baffled. I've literally been waiting as long as I can remember to hear this song. God is real.

I was a young teenager when this song came out and I had just gotten into the R and B/Funk scene of music. The base and rhythm just blew me away. I would play it over and over on a cassette walk man player with headphones on in my bed at night before going to sleep. Became one of my all time favorite songs and still is. It always brings me back to that much more innocent time in life when things were still new, there was still so much to come and discover in life..........

BB when a song fills those spaces within you, you genuinely know that “this” is something special so naturally the song stands out much more than your typical listening choice.Adding to the fact no doubt that the word “special “ is an accurate descriptive choice word that automatically sums up the song.
