Motown originally tried to mold Jean into a glamour Soul ful Diana Ross sans the wigs Place in the middle or far right or Left She Was the Main Lead and Gave the Supremes a more Soulful image and a few Solid gems like Stoned Love..Everybody's Got the right to love(Forgotten gem, and Up the Latter). Gordy at this time was more focus on Diana solo career so he could give a hoot.Jean was Jean not Diana"she didn't want to be Diana. she had her on voice style was Stubborn wouldn't listen to Gordy who Found her)and more of a Lead singer. Mary became a co lead but didn't feel comfortable being Lead having spent many.years singing Background and told by Gordy "oh Mary you know you cant sing" (Mary said this in her book Dreamgirls)
