Good old Juris. Just when I thought I had no idea what to do with a 20cm shallow, I now have some idea. My hero. Why I bought it for a tenner, I have no idea.

Hi Jurijs, another very enjoyable video, nature is amazing, thanks so much for taking the time with this., 👏👍 P.S. I have used moss with mixed results, dries out quickly, needs spraying regularly with rain water or osmosis. Never tap water.

Really like your nano series and would be curious to hear more about where in nature and how you collect moss as well as how to clean them. Was also inspired by SerpaDesign and made a closed jar terrarium now as I have had to work from home. Used locally collected mosses from around Dortmund, but was a bit scared that I would introduce all sorts of living organisms in my terrarium. 1 week in and the moss is doing fine... Keep up the good work!

It depends on what kind of moss you find. Many of them will go dormant when you take them away from their micro habitat, they will green up again if you are able to provide the conditions it prefers. To avoid this always take the time to really look around where its growing. Where is it getting its water, just how much water is it getting, does it rely on rains, does it rely on dew, condensation drops, something slowly rotting, look at what it is growing on, a moss that is growing on wood, like fern moss, will not acclimate well on stone, when you pull it up what is the substrate like, is it clay like, sandy, loamy, soft or compact. Also where is it getting its substrate? Is it from tree leaves, dust from a highway, sand from a sandy lot etc. Like wise, if you bring in moss that grows typically in sunnier and drier areas, it will not do well in wet conditions, such as bryum moss your typical silvery green sidewalk moss. Also moss that came from forests typically will not fair well indoors, because they are more delicate. Use "urban mosses" which are the ones that grow locally and around your neighborhood, these ones are more tolerant of common air and water pollutants and contaminants so they are a bit more hardier.

Hey Jurijs, great video. Hardscape was exceptional, but your moss planting is fundamentally flawed. As you now know most mosses need the high humidity of an enclosed space (terrarium) to survive inside. Misting once a day and setting it on a rock is not good enough to keep it alive. I've had better luck mixing aqua soil with cut up long fiber spagnum moss and akadama and water. You mix 1:1:1 into a thick mud consistency, which can be unsightly but moss planted on top of it fares much better as it has superior moisture retaining properties. You can also try underlaying hygrolon or other moisture wicking materials. Good luck!!
