I have a Patriot walnut stock chambered in .30-06 Springfield. Fired over 300 rounds through it and everything including the bolt and magazine still look and function like brand-new. It’s a accurate, lightweight rifle.

I got this exact rifle but couldn't warm up to it. After rescuing it from a fire in my folks' home I completely broke it down, swapped the synthetic stock for walnut, polished the bolt, pins, barrel, and everything else that's metal, and then clean/remount/zero the Crossfire scope. Now it's my favorite rifle, hands down. For the price you can't beat it. The groups at 200-300 yards are incredibly tight -- all within 1"!

@@johnnycashh7148 Thanks for the reply. He should be happy with it for decades. My first rifle was a Mossberg 22. very accurate even today 51 years later. I picked up a walnut patriot 270 this winter. If it shoots straight ill give it to my son who does eco-management for a large spread.

I've got this rifle and store sighted and I haven't touched the optics since and it shoots straight at 300 yards same as 100 which is dead on. I've gotten my second bull moose with it and I'm happy and surprised with the knockdown power it has

I just finished building my rifle. Mossberg Patriot 243 SS Marine Cerakoe finish. Grey laminate after market stock with recoil bolt. Nikon p308 BDC 800 4-12 x 40 and Weaver mid rise rings. I bedded the recoil lug and rear mounting screw. Laser bore sighted on the bench. Holes touching at 100 yards off the bench. I fired 100 rounds and re zeroed the scope. Good to go now.

Good comment on the box magazine. This is the first such magazine I've found that can be loaded from above while in the rifle just like a Model 98 Mauser.

I live in the Yukon Territory of Canada. I bought a Mossberg Patriot chambered with .300 Win Mag and it came with a Vortex 3-9x40 scope. In a few more days it should be arriving at my door. I plan to hunt the big game here with it, mostly moose, bison and potentially some elk and caribou. I realize it might be overkill for the last two, but I'll mostly be going for moose and bison. Can't wait to test it out!

Have you sighted in yet? How does it group after six shots? I bought the 270 this winter, have not fired it yet. Same scope, walnut.

I recently boubht a Patriot and it is a great gun fot the money. It cost me 499.00 in 2024 but well worth the prise. It has a smooth bolt operatin and the trigger, thog adjustable is prfecy right out of the box. It has a stainless ceracoatig that looks beautiful.

I have the Mossberg Patriot .308 Win and I just recently put it in an MDT chassis. I am built different, I get along better with adjustable stocks. Anyway, I have never adjusted the trigger. It came from the factory with a light and crisp pull. So, if it works, I don't fix it. It may be close to 3 pounds, I don't know. But that is a safety feature for hunting. I think, and others may disagree, that you don't need to be below 2.5 pounds on a hunting rifle trigger. Because you can be walking through the woods with the rifle loaded. Or moving around. If this was a bench gun or only in a stationary prone position, sure, a light trigger could work.

I bought one in 243 S.S. Marine ceracote. I don't like plastic stocks so I ordered a grey laminate stock from Mossberg. I bedded the recoil lug, had the stock pull adjusted and mounted a Nikon P308 4-12x40 BDC 800 scope. I used a chamber laser bore sight to zero the scope. first shots using federal premium 243 100 gr. BTSP were holes touching at 100 yards. Not bad for an OTC rifle.

I saw reviews of several hunting rifles last year about this time, and the Mossberg Patriot shot best for them straight out of the box. It was under an inch groupings at 100 yards. They tested 10 different rifles. If I remember correctly, the tests were done by Deer and Deer Hunting channel. I've wanted one of these since I saw that review. Maybe soon, huh!

The fluting on a barrel increases radiant surface are to help promote cooling for accuracy. In theory.

Are all the standard caliber barrels the same contour? If so then the smaller diameter chamberings should be slightly more accurate because of structural rigidity. 25 06 243 , should be more resistant to heat than 308 or 3006.

I bought a Mossberg Predator Kryptek on a Black Friday sale '23. Upon unpacking I immediately determined a trigger sticking issue. Sent it to the warranty center and they replaced the trigger. After getting it back( they fire four shots testing it) I cleaned it and ran my bore scope through it. I've never seen such inferior workmanship. There were dozens of galling pits from the button rifling process and deep chatter marks where gobs of copper built up considering I haven't even shot it yet. I send a concern with bore pics to Mossberg and got the following reply: I spoke with the warranty center and the firearm did pass all inspection. I also forwarded the photos to our engineering department for review and they have advised what you are seeing in the barrel is normal and safe to use. The firearms are test fired prior to shipping and the warranty center in Canada test fired the Patriot with no issues. Have a great day. So I concluded that the company adheres to a policy that if you pull the trigger and it fires, we're happy. I've owned hundreds of firearms and was a large dealer before I sold out to a big box chain years ago and never have I heard a less caring company.

Very good review I have the Mossberg Patriot in 308 and it is a tack driver the fluted barrel is to dissipate heat off the barrel to make it more accurate on a follow up shot but being fluted it does cut down a little on the weight on the rifle

I do not care for the fluted bolt. Just more areas for grime and gunk to gather and jam. The Viper scope is to die for on this rifle. Give me a solid Mauser action in .270 every time.
