In valorant settings -> controls i think there are 2 things 1st "dont auto equip melee" 2nd "Auto equip strongest", turn them on and u wont be walking with a knife out

Dont do auto strongest cuz you will pull out marshal for example close range getting you killed

As a radiant player, I can already tell what the coach told you. But if you can perfect crouch uncrouching with your movement it will help so much more. One shining star with this tech is Donk. And in vct matches you will notice a bunch of other pros doing it too.
