In this Slay the Spire gameplay, Baalorlord does an Ascension 20 run with Watcher. First, he gives tips on choosing a path and a starting bonus. Later on, he explains his decision for each card he chooses and why it's important to the build. Towards the end, he gears up for an epic Heart fight you don't want to miss. Watcher runs like this is refreshing to watch. When playing watcher I always brainlessly build towards calm-wrath dancing because it's just so strong and easy to get together.

I usually try for retain or powers like alpha/mantra builds. The calm to wrath builds almost always get me killed with a bad draw.

Small optimization for those watching the run. After picking up crush joints, try to end turns with skills. This makes the vulnerable active when drawn if you don’t or can’t play a skill when you draw it

I'm so biased here, but I enjoy your watcher runs the most. Mainly because your watcher guide really leveled me up as a player both with Watcher, but with StS in general. So these runs are always special to me.

Outside of an infinite watcher run and a few minor mistakes made during the run, this is the best watcher run ever! I particularly like the different uses of orange bullets used in the run. Orange bullets to lock in the lost card cost from snecko eye and removing fasting energy debuff for massive strength and dexterity without penalty. Well done.

the overall winrate of silence was mentioned as being lower due to bigger starting deck size. my win rate with silence is vastly better than the other characters, i guess because of how straightforward the strategies can be for her.

It's my best character as well. Silent just seems to have more paths to victory for me. Where some of the other classes can be harder to win without a few good card drops

You keep focusing on the cost variable with sneko, when it is at least as much about the extra card draw. Ask Jorbs to do the math for you. It's why he almost always picks it when offered.

You also have to consider the variance in which cards have their cost randomized. Notably at one point in the run Baalor noted that he was removing debuffs while Eruption was still 3 cost, which was his only way into wrath at the time. While overall sneko is on average energy positive, that doesn't help when the cards you DO want to play cost more.

But there're more you need to consider other than costs and draws. Like for watcher, picking snecko means you can no longer rushdown infinite (or at least pseudo infinite) -- the most promising route to win as a watcher.
