Absolutely - this run proves you can pick all the right cards but you still have to pilot the deck well. Even if Baalor picked the cards for me I wouldn't survive this run.

What a tense run! You were treading a razor's edge nearly the whole run. Impressive as always.

What's really impressive about this run was how he overcame some terrible luck - many fights with unlucky enemy attack rolls, unfavorable boss relics, and mediocre pathing choices. He was forced to build his deck to survive only the next few floors rather than look to the end game. The deck only became Act 4 viable near the very end, with piercing wails, ornamental fan and tough bandages giving him enough block. The glass cannon nature of his deck meant he often couldn't stall to optimize nunchaku or incense burner. His decisions to use pocket watch when his deck was built around shuriken/blade dance were crucial in many tough fights. What I've noticed about highly skilled Spire players is they choose lines that allow them to survive in the event of the worst possible outcomes. When they get average or above average luck, they tend to stomp that run, but when they get worse-than-average luck, they often can still find a way to eke out a win and this game was a shining example of high skill overcoming a difficult seed.

This is easily the best one so far. I kept waiting for the moment where the deck just took off and the run became easier but it never really happened and it stayed super tense all the way. So many calculations to make sure you had the best possible turns. Very entertaining stuff!

At 1:05:54, during the snake plant fight, there was lethal with strike strike backstab backstab shiv spray shiv shiv cultist dagger. Deal 9, block 3, deal 9, block 4, deal 16, block 5, deal 18, block 6, deal 7, block 7, deal 7 and 7, block 8, deal 9, block 9, deal 9, deal 34. Total of 125 damage dealt, for 42 block gained, so 83 true damage. Sometimes you just have to sit and do the maths, and shuriken marbles is absurd. Great run!

Lagavulin is brutal for silent. Silent is the first character I got to A20 and I found either an early gremlin nob or any lagavulin at all could just end the run right there. Any run that got out of act 1 would make it to act 3 but I would lose a run in act 1 at least half the time lol. I learned a lot of lessons from the game through that though. Great save, I've lost so many runs from a similar situation.

That's an astute observation! Indeed, in the base game, if there was to be a potion dropped by the Emerald elite while having Black Star, the potion would be discarded and never shown to the player. However, BaseMod, the base framework that most mods operate on, fixed that. Most streamers have modded their games in one way or another, so it's widely accepted that the small fixes from BaseMod are fine during the streaks. Another interesting thing that BaseMod fixed: normally, if you are not Defect and you don't have Prismatic Shard, you cannot ever get an orb slot. This means that casting a card generating an orb (such as with Watcher's Foreign Influence) would have the character say "I have no orb slots!" However, BaseMod changes that, granting you one orb slot immediately if you play a card that gives you an orb. -Faely

I don't understand skipping 'Accuracy'. It increases the damage of blade dance+ by 16 and blade dance by 12. And usually youre going to end up playing at least one of those after playing Accuracy. Usually will be playing both multiple times.
