Parents have gotten so out of control, that in my town, a youth soccer league had instituted a myriad of rules that would get you ejected for violating, including, believe it or not, loudly cheering.

Wow. That's crazy. About 20 years ago I remember a case in BC where the father of a hockey player threatened the life of 3 teenage referees/linesmen, who were officiating his boy's hockey game. He vowed to be 'waiting for them in the parking lot', so the officials had to barricade themselves in their dressing room until the RCMP arrived and arrested the father. Shameful parental behavior.

my nephew was a teen Ref at kids' football matches. minor leagues, from 7 to 13 (Soccer) and honestly, the kids were great, but the parents were worse, and having it out with him. My nephew was about 15-16 at the time. i saw iut happen in real-time, it was embarrassing because the kid on the pitch was humiliated by their parents thinking they knew more than the Ref

Used to cover Biddy Basketball for a local television station in Wichita, Kansas. We're talking a weekend tournament of lowered goalposts and smaller basketballs for a thousand 6-12 year-old kids after an opening ceremony and a group prayer. All sponsored by statewide church groups and the Salvation Army. I've covered semi-pro and high school basketball, hockey, football, volleyball and even cricket and I have never seen any worse behavior than that from the parents of those Biddy Ball tournament players. Shot it for three seasons, it never got any better. Blows my mind to this day. Worse than drunken hockey fans. These were supposedly "Christian" parents and coaches. Best to you-

I am shocked at how parents act at a child’s ball game. It’s just a game!! My sis used to play soft ball. She is 49 now. Parents did not act like that back then. They fussed a little but there was no punching and screaming in someone’s face!! I just don’t understand it!! This is why children act as they do!! The parents are monsters, so the kids are too!! 😱

My mother is one of a kind. She is crazy as hell. When I was prolly 6 or 7 i was playing hockey and our goalie decided to lay across the net cause nobody on the other team could lift the puck. Well this coach/ref started yelling at him, calling him a cheater causing him to start crying. My mom completely lost her shit, stomped out onto the ice with her mukluk boots on, punched the coach in the face and dropped him to his knees then grabbed him by the neck with both hands and screamed “IF YOU EVER TOUCH ONE OF MY KIDS AGAIN I WILL FUCKING KILL YOU!!” Keep in mind this was not one of her kids either. Funny thing is I don’t even remember it, I think I blocked it out like a rape victim but was reminded about it forever. My hilarious mom when I talk to her about it she always says “you know he was always really respectful towards me after that”. It’s like yeah no shit mom cause you’re fricking crazy.
