Although we've never been enamored with the HR-V, the smallest and most affordable member of Honda's SUV lineup makes for a serviceable entry-level SUV we can easily recommend, even in the ultra-crowded subcompact SUV segment.
Although the HR-V is slow, this is still the practical, sweet-driving Honda we know and love. Peers include the Toyota Corolla Cross, Subaru Crosstrek, and Chevrolet Trailblazer. We don't anticipate any noteworthy changes for the 2025 HR-V. Honda introduced the current-generation model for 2023 with more mature styling, improved interior tech, standard driver assists, and a more powerful engine. Considering the HR-V shares a platform with the current Civic, there's a chance an HR-V Hybrid is coming soon, and we foresee a midcycle refresh for the 2026 model year.
Honda's most approachable crossover applies some of the best aspects of the Civic platform to a small SUV form factor. Buyers get the same upscale interior design with a honeycomb mesh that runs the width of the cabin, and tactile buttons and knobs are better for the user experience than doing everything through a touchscreen. Generous safety features and infotainment features help keep the HR-V from feeling cheap.
