reality is different for many ppl. it's definitely awesome for them for their own reasons. but lets be careful with how we perceive others who do not make that decision. lets not pretend that the 9-5 system is first of all a system that works for everybody, and that its a healthy system to begin with. youtube has allowed so many people the flexibility to be in charge of their own lives without having to answer to anybody. I like that they value education but sometimes the things they say hit a chord with me. of course education should be valued, but many of us are taught from an early age that people do not hold value unless they have some type of income or formal education. Just remember that they have both. So their value in society is not challenged (within the youtube space maybe a little weird but not challenged or frowned upon by society). Their decision to keep a job is still a choice. It would still not be a bad choice if they decided to quit their jobs. It is ok to not want to work and enjoy your life with what you have earned.

Tying the value of education to a day job, or even having a degree, is very crass. Some of the people I've known who value education the least are people who have college degrees and day jobs, and some of the people I've known who value education the most didn't even get to finish high school and have their own businesses. Let's not start on how many people I know who have degrees and haven't bothered to actively continue to try to learn more everyday, figuring that their degree is enough. That's not my own idea of valuing education. By the way, a major problem with typing how much someone values education to having a day job is that you're saying disabled people who can't hold day jobs can't value education.

@@trashlord3311 Keyword is "responsibly." A lot of the biggest KZbinrs have made spending money a part of their schtick, and unforeseen circumstances can wipe out the savings of even the most responsible of people. Aside from that, when you factor in inflation and a probably end to social security (that one within the US), the mount needed to get though even a modest retirement is astronomical.

I enjoy how respectful and kind Cristine is, and I definitely feel the whole “the awkwardness is my fault, not your fault” thing. ALSO, if you want to talk about OCD-ness and don’t feel comfortable about using the actual name of the illness (since it’s debilitating and serious and is probably used too often in casual conversation) a surgeon I used to work for who leaned in that direction always called it Compulsive Tendencies, which is what I call it nowadays when I see it in myself. Like, not full blown OCD, but the need to Do Certain Things or it will be Wrong.

Omg the” recording for your editing” thing is something that I did for a while - the final cuts came out great. BUT I found that spending 20 minutes recording 5 variations of an intro became almost inauthentic and nerve racking! I had to practice “just doing it” and being okay with the outcome. But know that you’re not alone in this: MANY content creators have scripts and lines that they do much like a voice actor and then in post they will pick the tone from scene to scene that fits things the best. I love the rawness you get with beauty community - it flows like a conversation. But they make up for it with being picture perfect on screen almost constantly

quick tip from someone suffering with severe anxiety: the way you talk about having to say a sentence 20 times really reminds me of how i communicate. thinking and re thinking the sentences about 20 times until i feel the courage to say them, but the conversation having moved on by then. so, i just wanna encourage you to try and get more comfortable with who u are and how u behave! u dont have to be perfect, even in youtube videos! try and limit yourself. say u give yourself a max of 15 tries, if it doesnt work, take a break, try to calm yourself down and try again! :) this way youll feel more comfy in future collabs and filming videos wont be so draining and take less time! :))) sending lots of love !

I am a proud Simply Stan since before Polish Mountain. I remember finding your blogs back in the days when desperate holosexuals would make their own holo by pooling together to buy an order of automotive spectraflair. Then make tons of spectraflair topcoats. Ahhh, reminiscing...

If you repeat stuff compulsively for the videos, how much editing does the podcast take then?

I repeat myself so many times when I'm filming my videos, mostly because I stuff up what I'm saying 😂

I liked when Cristine was awkward with Manny, I think most of us would be intimidated in such a new situation

This is a smaller channel with content of a bigger channel. Most people probably already saw this in the podcast so they don’t go look here. Not to mention that is has only been up for 5 hours at the time you wrote that comment. Completely normal 😊

That jump cut, shifting positions thing...that is...such an old KZbin editing style. Lol I hated it. I’m so glad it’s over. Or at least the way it’s over, I’m happy about.
