As a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Purple belt, i would much rather be choked out then knocked out. Choking only stops the blood flow to the brain, but it comes back as soon as your opponent lets go. Getting knocked out, especially repeatedly, can cause TBI like concussions. So therefore getting choked out is much safer.
@Manj_0172 жыл бұрын
As a Shotokan Black belt, cutting off blood from the brain, even for a small amount of time, is still enough to cause a low level amount of brain damage as its been starved from oxygen. Both knock outs and choke outs are bad for the brain which is why you should avoid fighting as much as possible; and only fight when necessary.
@ctgoorverd63732 жыл бұрын
@@Manj_017 sure, but that wasn’t my point, my point was I’d rather get choked out then knocked out
@Manj_0172 жыл бұрын
@@ctgoorverd6373 Yep and I'm just clarifying that being choked out can be deadly too. Your comments makes it sound like choking has no detrimental affects. People like you and I would know that choking can cause problems to peoples brains, so there's no need to explain. However individuals thay come across your comment that aren't trained would have the impression that choking causes no issues.

That Don Frye vs Yoshihiro Takayama fight from 2002 is by far my favorite MMA fight of all time and still one of the most iconic ones in history purely because of that one clip alone. Both of those guys are legends especially considering one of them (Takayama although Frye did dip his toes into wrestling over in Japan in the early 2000s) was a pro wrestler who even though he put forth great performances in the couple fights he'd had before that match wasn't at all an MMA fighter like Frye was yet still had a huge part in one of the greatest fights ever and it's no wonder why that shot him into stardom in the wrestling world for any who might know.
