I refer you to Billy Graham’s interview with Robert Shuller on his Hour of Power broadcast, May 30, 1997, where he DENIES that Jesus is the only way into heaven.

My wife comes from the Syro Malabar arm of the Catholic Church (St. Thomas Christians)...we (Catholics) recognize the succession of St. Thomas down to present day Syro Malabar Catholics, and it doesn't mutually exclude the hierarchical nature that is seen in the Catholic Church (inclusive of all rites that are recognized as belonging to the larger Catholic Church). Great vid as always. Church history is super underrated IMO in most modern day Christian (non-denom) circles. I think a great place to start is reading from the Church Fathers, i.e. Ignatius of Antioch, Polycarp, Augustine, and going from there. You'd be surprised how much of modern day Catholicism, and Orthodox Christianity, has preserved the practices that Early Christians partook in.

Very interesting. As a practicing christian for several years now, it is becoming more and more obvious to me how little I know about church history and how important getting a deeper understanding of it is. The church has shaped and influenced so many global institutions and society for better or worse and I feel it is very important to determine where the bad has crept in and pursue truth.
@theeternalsbeliever1779

The history of Catholicism isn't one of "bad ppl crept in and perverted the truth". It's more a matter of "the entire structure of Catholicism was built on a lie". There was never any truth in Catholicism, because it was all built on appropriating heathen traditions and whitewashing them as Christian. The fact that the whole world bought into it only proves what Rev. 17:1-5 says about this church to be true.

He said it was not for them to understand. Afterwards he would sit down and explain to the apostles what he was saying. A eye of a needle wasn't said cause it sounded catchy. Wide is that other road very few will find the true path.. He is reproducing himself and that requires Perfect Character which can only be achieved by exerting sheer will over the thing u know u shouldn't do n denying yourself these things Character comes from overcoming. This is trippy. But I'm Native American. I basically silently thought all the thoughts of church history ( not reformed from scratch) but pretty much just kept asking questions. Like, I never believed all of it but I did go through the questioning phase. Like "Did Jesus say he's God? What does Jesus mean by the last supper? Is the Holy Spirit God? " Etc. But I kept it mostly all to myself, close friends and spouse. I'm so humbled that I question myself to this day lol And I think that's okay. I believe Jesus will help me the way he has been lol Lean not on our own understanding.

@@beyond0077 sorry but Catholicism became universal because of a LOT of conquest! The Anglican Church (the British church, controlled by the king/queen of England instead of the pope), also were major parts of the colonization efforts. Because of the counter reformation from EUROPE, the Catholic Church wanted to ensure they didn’t loose their power… not because they genuinely cared about upholding biblical belief. My parents left the RCC. I’ve talked to some Catholics and done side research. Apparently the Bible isn’t the Catholic authority. The Pope and traditions of the Catechism are. Those traditions mostly come from Europe and Latin America (Spanish influenced more than Latin Indigenous) But the Bible is the Christian one… when it comes to authority, as Jesus is the head of the church, and not a European sovereign leader or Pope. Also the Anglican Church is very rooted in Catholicism because it was only a split over Henry the 8th. I believe in Christianity that roots from the Middle East. Not Europe… not Rome. Jesus two natures was believed prior to the Catholic Church defining it, however it was the Catholic who defined what you believe today. @@austinmorris3422 The question isn't why did it take x number of years to make the declaration. The question is what at the time caused the declaration to be made. Most of the time if not all the time the declarations made by the Catholic church is in response to something not preemptive. Just like why did the Church finally recognize various Marian dogmas after the1850s not earlier. The simple answer is because what the Church recognized as the Marian dogmas was already agreed by the church (Major Protestant Reformers, Catholics, and Orthodox) prior. Then controversy arose about Mary in the 1800s calling into question role Mary plays as it pertains to her relationship to Christ. Thus the Church had to, due to controversy, formally declare the teaching. The same can be said about teachings surrounding the papacy.

Also, the Catholic church has never recanted that all of Christendom is heretical - except the Catholic church. Is that an issue for you? "...for the Pope to be infallible his words should refer to doctrine concerning faith or morals..." So, when the Pope comes out with blasphemy, is he speaking as man or infallible? Me and my husband bought a home in a rural area and are homeschooling and not following main stream medicine, I don't know why that video said that people who are doing what we are doing is "running away" , raising our children away from corrupt secular systems is a lot of hard work we gladly take on for our whole family, there is nothing "running away" about taking on extra work to worship God away from wickedness.... We know so many people who call themselves Christian but literally change nothing about their life to live more righteously, they indulge in all the same sin as non believers. Plus we haven't moved rural because we believe Jesus is about to come back, that was the last thing we were thinking about when we wanted to live closer to nature and become more self reliant and trust God over man's cities. I don't know any Christian who "ran away" to rural areas. I've heard this excuse said by people who love the convenience of living in the city / suburbs, just admit you don't want to live a harder life relying on your self more than all the bells and whistles of organized cities. This attitude has pushed many away from Christ and his church and who can blame them?? They go to a church and then realize that there’s a million different denominations and each one loves and worships the same God but all will spend more time telling you why others are wrong as opposed to why they are right.. I believe in free will and I believe in love of ALL people even if they do not believe like me or live like me.. Your path is your path and those who talk down on it are sharing far more about themselves then they are you and your path! We all have different perspectives and each of ours is important or we wouldnt be here, that being said it would be impossible for every Christian to read the Bible and interpret I t the exact same and for that reason I strongly feel we should practice more love and tolerance towards our fellow man instead of these who’s right and who’s wrong when obviously religious leaders have been fighting for years and still have never agreed so if we are caught In The same trap with each other when does it ever end??

Catholic and Orthodox Christians were taxed unlike muslim population and some times Christians were persecutted and some times their children were forcibly recruitted into Janissaries (elite Ottoman Empire infantry unit). Catholicism remained extremely popular in Croatia till this day, but when Vatican I hit about the pope's infabillity, some Catholic bishops rebelled and left Catholic church and formed new denomination called Old Catholic Church which still exists till this day and are protestantized, they are in communion with Lutheran and Anglican churches but remained Catholic. Vatican II was when Novus Ordo was introduced and the mass stopped being on latin and the priest was facing people instead of an altar, and it brought some good changes as far as I know (I am aware of heavy politics, but I do appreciate positive feedback on accepting our Protestant family in Christ back). Orthodox Christians as I heard had not responded lightly to Martin Luther's theology. So far as to say that Patriarch of Constantinople rejected his offer (Martin Luther wanted to reconcile with Orthodox Church). Lutherans that came from Germany and Austria were allowed in 19th century to build churches, preach the Gospel and other things in Croatia. Methodists as I had read on their page were also present in Croatia since the 19th century. Regarding Methodists, fun fact, Greek Orthodox bishop in Amsterdam ordinated John Wesley's preachers and the rumors go that the same bishop may or may not had consecrated Wesley as the bishop. That is all, great video btw.

Papal infallibility is very misunderstood by non-Catholics. As Catholics we do NOT believe the pope’s opinions are infallible. We only believe that specific questions with regard to the church can be answered by papal infallibility. In other words, pope can’t just change our doctrine or change our Christian beliefs. He can clarify specifics through the proper process. We believe this because we believe Christ gave the spirit to guide the church. And we also believe in an elected monarchy. So the pope is the sovereign.

He never said why he left, 2 many "members", and as a result, many church members were leaving or questioning the "management" because "John left suddenly with NO explanation"! Even our own Uncle/cousin was sent 2 "woo" my parents back, but their convictions were firm. That was their last "move", b4 they were called 2 heaven. Several corrections: Catholics have never denied the Apostolic Succession of Easter or Oriental Orthodoxy. And if the Catholics took 800 years - after the East-West Schism - to formally state their view of the Pope's authority, how does that invalidate the concept? The many Church Councils imply the authority of the patriarchs of Apostolic Sees. Moreover, many matters of faith were not defined for hundreds of years, such as the Trinity or the nature of Christ.

St Ignatius of Antioch one ofThe church fathers coins the term Catholic. Before the Protestant reformation there was only the apostolic church made up of the catholic and orthodox sides Btw scripture is not the authority. It’s the church that Jesus established and predates the New Testament, that is the authority. It is the church who wrote down New Testament, who established the churches across the land…it is because of the church that we have the Bible, the library of scripture.

FYI, I am Assyrian and I can confirm that the (Assyrian) Church of the East does not believe what was stated. Likewise, Nestorius did not believe what he is blamed for believing. Modern scholars have clarified this point. Unfortunately, the division was mostly political between Nestorius (who was the bishop of Constantinople) and Cyril (who was the bishop of Antioch). The Church of the East got lumped into this debate because they wouldn't denounce Nestorius (who was not even a member of our clergy).

Brother. All over the Bible God is seen speaking about the future right next to a verse that is contemporary to the people being addressed by the prophet in question. for example in Isaiah 28: 5 Hence …Jesus wasn’t always referring to the times when he was preaching when he prophesied …it was often about the future. One clear example is when Jesus said “today the prince of this world (the devil ) is cast out “ John 12: 31 - Was the devil cast out in 37AD or so ? NO. By “today “ Jesus was referring to the future. The day when the sun goes dark and the moon turns into blood (Joel 2: 31, Ezekiel 32: 7, Matthew 24: 29) it’s what we call the wrath of God. After the tribulation

As a oneness pentecostal myself I feel a lot of people misunderstand what we believe because what they have heard about us and our theology is from a biased POV. Most definitely we believe Jesus is Lord, and Jesus is the same God in the old testament as He is in the new. Jesus is God come down in human form, both fully divine and fully human. As stated in 1 timothy 3:16, great is the mystery of godliness, God was manifest in the flesh and justified in the spirit. Some may ask "how can Jesus be fully God and fully human"?. As stated, that's the mystery of Godliness. Great approach friend : )

Sure thing. Basically, because of the fall and the extent of sin in the human heart and mind, man cannot and will not choose God. That is essential to understanding predestination. Not that man has no free will, but because of the blinding effects of sin our free will is in bondage to sin (anyone who sins is a slave to sin, so if son sets you free you shall be free indeed). Because of this and God’s love, grace, and foreknowledge, he chose to save certain people for the ultimate purpose of his own glory. This is based not on anything good or bad He sees in his chosen, or any foreknowledge of a choice He sees them making. That is why it is called unconditional election. Because God chooses to save people based not on anything we do, but 100% because of the grace within Him. I would encourage you to not get caught up in weeds of trying to fully understand this, but reflect upon the fact that God is greater than anything in the entire universe and yet still shows grace, love, and mercy freely to his people. May the Lord be with you!
