This is insane. Finale of Glory/Devastation/Eternity would absolutely wreck people, as would other X spells such as Banefire, Electrodominance, and March Of The Multitude. Is there any way to make a viable Thousand-Year Storm deck out of this particular meta? Or even a Historic Simic Animator deck using the abilities of cards to animate Nyx Lotus and duplicating it using Helm Of The Host and Sparkdouble?

I learned how to shake hands from one of those traveling circus freak guys who rips a bunch of things in half with his bare hands. He described a way to shake hands so you'll never lose one of those squeeze contests you sometimes get into when shaking hands. Basically you make a Spock grip and keep your first two fingers pointed at the other person's wrist, then curl the rest of your fingers and thumb around the other person's hand like a normal handshake. So you end up making almost like a finger gun when shaking hands. This does something to arrange your finger bones such that there's no way to squeeze them. I don't know if it's a leverage thing or what, but it's absolutely hilarious watching someone try to squeeze your hand as hard as they can and it just has no effect whatsoever. So that's how I shake hands now. It's pretty great tbh.

How do you determine your land distribution, particularly why 7 islands and 11 forests? Why not 1/2 1/2? Is there a rule of thumb? Thanks, love watching your videos!
@blakgoat7
@blakgoat7 4 жыл бұрын
@Josh Sanders I think most people make decisions on the mana curve for each deck, based on the mana cost of the cards (which colour is predominant), and/or how many cards of each colour they have. In this case, he has a 50/50 mana ratio distribution in the begining (13 forests and 13 islands, counting with the dual shock lands), but mid video (16:12) he decided to change it to 15 forests and 11 islands, because it was affecting his initial draw (he got only blue mana at 15:37). If you look at the deck, he has 28 green cards and only 13 blue cards, so he needs green mana the most. If you watch the first game, you will see that the deck doesn't depend on blue mana to function, but it certainly depends on green, hence his decision to change the mana curve. Cards like the cavaliers of the expansion M20, Vilis, Broker of Blood, Planar Cleansing, Sephara, Sky's Blade, Mass Manipulation etc. should make you think about how to make mana distribution efficient, since they can become dead cards in your hand, if you don't have enough of the mana colour you need to play them. In some occasions, it might be reasonable to have 50/50 mana ratio because of how much mana of the same colour you need to pay for the cards you have, even though they don't belong to the predominant colour of the deck. Mana fixers help with that: Enchantments for lands (Urban Utopia, Gift of Paradise and New Horizons), Wilderness Reclamation (mostly for casting instants, or sorceries if you have Leyline of Anticipation or Teferi, Time Raveler) or certain creatures like Paradise Druid, Rosethorn Acolyte, Centaur Nurturer, Leyline Prowler, Illysian Carytid, Prismite, Scuttlemutt and Signpost Scarecrow (all in standard), who upon tapping can give you mana of any colour. This being one of the reasons why I assume Qwazzar senpai likes to use green in his decks. Cards that allow you to play other cards without having to pay for their mana cost also help (Omniscience, Fires of Invention, Electrodominance, Golos, Tireless Pilgrim, etc.) This guy @Raynman Gaming once gave really good advice on how to decide on what number of lands adding or subtracting according to your requirements per game and I quote: "24 lands is the rule of thumb. It depends on the curve of the deck as well as any ramping you might have in it, card draw, value lands, etc. When you first start playing the deck, do this: Start at 0. Every time you get screwed, subtract one. Every time you flood, add one. If, after a dozen or so games, you're at less than -1 (sometimes -2), then you need to add more lands. If you're at more than 2 (sometimes 3), then you need to remove lands. Oftentimes, it's better to flood than screw, especially if you have card draw or value lands (Arch of Orazca, for example) in the deck." The simple answer is: trial and error! Play the deck, and see what mana colour you lack the most while playing. The more you play and build decks, the more you will familiarize yourself with the concept of mana curve. Sorry for the long post :( and I hope it helps! Edited on 22/09/2020

This deck concept is incredibly powerful, but I still think this archetipe could be improved. I question the idoneity of Gyre Engineers. I would probably try some Quasiduplicate, Spark Double or Kioras. More hanky alternatives with Gift of Paradise may allow to splash some white for infinite mana combo with Gauntlets of Lights or some sweet Explosions with Red could be of potential interest.
