I've been carrying a Case American Workman jumbo stockman every day for over a decade now. In my opinion it is Case's most useful and carriable pattern.

Absolutely loved the sheath idea. I spent an hour making one with the same idea from my old pair of boots because of you! Saving the other side for a different knife now! My EDC is normally my Russlock and I also carry my 79 Pen CV and it can fit either one!

Yes sir! My grandfather that recently passed is what got me into machinist work- along with him being a preacher he was also an awesome manual machinist, my dad followed in his footsteps but quickly found himself in a good inspection position, and I followed suit and I’ve been a manual (mostly, I have done some cnc) machinist for about 20 years now 🤝
@terrillschneider3778
@terrillschneider3778 Жыл бұрын
@@doomcrewoutdoors1613 I did a little CNC over the years but hated it I have done it all as a toolmaker fit and finish Class A plastic molds all types of molds most types of dies But I really just loved to run a Bridgeport Mill and sharpen tools Funny I was the guy who got to sharpen other guys pocket knives
@doomcrewoutdoors1613
@doomcrewoutdoors1613 Жыл бұрын
@@terrillschneider3778 I prefer manuals too, at my last job of 10 years I worked for LUFKIN gear repair before they sold out to GE and later shut my shop down but I got a ton of good experience there, performed all kinds of machining operations and ran nearly every machine in that shop, milled and re-bored tiny and HUGE gearboxes, drilled and tapped 100’s of thousands of holes, cut some HUGE keyways, rand large cylindrical grinders….. all kinds of stuff! Now I’m at a much easier job physically, I still run a manual mill and sometimes a lathe and drill press but my job is much more consistent and physically easier these days which I don’t mind at all especially since I’m actually making more money as well…. But I’ve become known as the drill bit sharpening extraordinaire everyone in this shop brings me their drill bits to sharpen, lol and knives too 👍🏼

Watched this again. Great choices, I agree and often carry the same patterns. I often carry the Case folding hunter also in my jeans pocket. I like big folding knives provided I'm wearing jeans, which I usually do. The large sodbuster is a good carry also. Good mods. Did you use a file or a grinder for the initial cut of the swedge? Zippos are cool. I suppose you know Case owns Zippo.
@doomcrewoutdoors1613
@doomcrewoutdoors1613 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, zippo actually owns Case I believe. But yeah I used a bench grinder with a fine wheel for the swedges. I had a guy tell me it’s easier yo use a file, and that may be true if you’re doing it before heat treat but afterwards I wouldn’t think a file would be able to cut much or at least I don’t think it should once the blade is hardened. I prefer larger knives as well, I have a folding Hunter and also a large Saddlehorn, it’s a big ol knife too

Years ago I picked up a Case ( stamped on the main blade) the smaller blade is not stamped. What's odd about the knife,is it doesn't have the Case badge on the side. Closed the knife is about 3 3/4 in. long. Both blades are hinged on 1 end, dark brown handles.. What can you tell me.

Best thing to do when putting a swedge on a blade is to clamp the blade down and use a file, then take the file marks out with sandpaper. Less chance of going too far with a file than it is with a power tool like a Dremel or belt sander.
