Idols are like Barbie dolls. Dressed up and controlled by the owner. Any current generation does not have control over their concepts, outfits, music, etc. but that goes to say Idols job is to be an idol, not artist. Artist you’ll find them making music and having control over how they and others perceive them.

Actually there are a lot of groups who are given creative freedom. BTS, AKMU, SEVENTEEN, G-idle and Stray Kids have all been self produced since their debuts. In the case of SEVENTEEN they also choreograph and distribute lines themselves, same with G-idle for the latter. Also one the idols get to the point where they are releasing solo albums they most definitely have a say in their concept, clothing, ect

BTS do have a history of plagiarism, though and they've apologized for it. Of course they wouldn't use the word "plagiarism". They would use whatever the Korean equivalent of that word is. These idols are in their late teens early 20s when they debut. They know what it means to plagiarize. I'm not saying that's the case. You know the whole “Nayeon copying Jennie controversy” started because a certain website posted an article that purposely cherry picked comments about Nayeon copying Jennie and Blinks (well mainly Jennie solo stans) saw that as an opportunity to bash Nayeon on Twitter. (Saying stuff like Nayeon's solo is going to flop, calling Nayeon a “Jennieboo”, saying that no one in SK knows who Nayeon is unlike Jennie etc.) Why do I know all this? Oh, it's because it's entertaining to see these Blinks having nothing entertaining to do with their lives since Blackpink hasn't announced their comeback by that point so they do what they do best, being toxic.
