Wade was always one of my favourites and such an outstanding player, I still remember to this day the only way Taylor could beat him in the world final was by hitting 2 nine darters! I also remember watching him in the worlds when he broke down - it was heartbreaking. He was so misunderstood with his mental health issues and never got the help he desperately needed.

That Taylor game was insane, the face Wade kept up with him and it finished 10-8 was so impressive because Taylor played some of the best darts I've ever seen that night.

Always got a lot of respect for james wade, it's brutal to suffer with mental health issues and unless you go through it you dont truly understand how difficult it can be. It isn't like a broken arm, can't just put a cast on and it's fine. Regardless of his controversies, lack of recent form he's always been one of my favourites.

Humphries being left out of the 2023 premier league is still a baffling decision. He was ranked #5 in the world at the time, and in 2022 was clearly the 3rd best player in the world after the 2 Michaels and he also earned the 3rd most ranking money that season. He won 4 Euro tours in 2022, made the QF of the European championships and SF of both the slam and PC finals. People now defend that decision saying, "look what he went on to win, the PDC knew what they were doing, giving him that time off and letting him work on his game." That is extremely stupid logic. Had Humphries gone on to have a bad 2023, then people would've (rightfully) said, it was a good decision to leave him out because of his bad form. The fact Humphries went on to win the grand prix, grand slam, PC finals and the worlds left the PDC licking egg off their face due to their stupid decision of leaving him out. Also, including Peter in last year's prem was a decision the whole darting world knew was stupid. Everyone knew Peter's form and confidence were in shambles and that Dobey should've been included. lo and behold Peter goes on to win 2 games all season. The last 2 years he has made the competition substantially worse, basically giving opponents a bye on most nights. I really hope his 1 good game vs Humphries (which admittedly was a world class display by Peter) doesn't cause the PDC to make the same mistake again.

I think James Wade is the most misunderstood Dart player for as long as I can remember. It’s not easy what he’s been through with his mental health but his longevity deserves acknowledgement and he’s the best player to never be World Champion.

I don’t think it was a bad idea had they actually done it with Wade’s best interests at heart. Truth is, they used it as an excuse…Wade wasn’t hugely popular with several of the top players back then while also viewed as a bit of a loose cannon by the higher ups in the PDC. Always liked James and chuffed he is happy and settled in family life while still throwing great darts

Haven't paid much attension to the Premier League for many years now since they started messing with the format. I never got the hype of players wanting to be in it, it's a exhibition with a lot of travel involved. I always said if I was in the position to play in it I'd decline along with the masters and focus on players championships and euro tour events i.e. ranking events. The only non-ranking event I'd definetly play would be the World Cup and even that needs a big format change

Barry Hearn I don't believe is a qualified medical professional of any kind, so I don't know how he could justify what was better mentally for James. Obviously, it was a personal decision for Barry. Barry Hearn has been tremendous for the PDC, but sometimes he slips up due to his ego. This was a prime example.

James Wade is a good player and he’s entitled to his opinions. However, it’s best sometimes to just let your darts do the talking. If you have to make comments, at least be able to back them up or be able to cope with the responses. That said, he does have mental health issues so his opinions have to be understood with his mental state in mind. As for the Premier League, great concept at the start but it needs to evolve as the game has. It’s too elite and I think a 2 division league would be better. Top 8 in the first league and the 2nd division should be for other winners and select players from the mens and ladies comps. It could be easily managed by playing on different nights in the week to allow for maximum tv coverage. There wouldn’t be a need for promotion/relegation as the players would change each year. Just a way to get more players involved who wouldn’t usually get the chance to play on a big stage midweek. The second division could even be played in cities/towns that don’t usually have pro darts events.
