That shop and city looks amazing. Thanks for shedding light on alternatives to the normal tourist spots.

One of the most remarkable achievements of ESC is the strong sense of community it fosters among cyclists. People don't just come for a single trip; they keep returning. Over time, they develop a genuine feeling of belonging to a community. This sense of belonging is not just about the rides themselves, but also about the connections and friendships that form. Cyclists share their experiences, support each other, and often find themselves looking forward to the next adventure together. It's this camaraderie that makes ESC more than just a place to buy cycling gear-it's a place to belong. 😊

Russ, can’t believe you’re in our neck of the woods! I’m from hood river OR and we moved to Competa Spain a few years ago. If you want a tour of some of the best gravel riding from white village to white village please come by! We have a place for you guys to stay, bicycles if you didn’t bring yours and we might even feed you! Seriously it’s really hard to beat the paths around here…I’d love to share it with an ex-Orgonian.

Great video, have been in Girona and rented from ESC over a dozen times and met Chris there, looking forward to getting down to Malaga at the end of this year for the first time 🚴♂️🚴♂️

Love this. Was there a few weeks ago (port stop on a cruise... sorry, local Spaniards). I hadn't heard of Malaga before and was impressed by all the bike lanes and cyclists everywhere

Great video, an eye opener of a shop and the English speaker. So much in the world to see.

Being a winter bike commuter, that stainless indoor bike washing station looks so nice (if that's what it is?). I can't wash the road salt off because the water freezes to the frame. Sigh.

Very hot in Summer though. Take a trip to Bordeaux and Toulouse. Not so many amazing bike shops, but mile after mile of fabulous separated bike routes (velo vert)
@JohnPilling25Күн бұрын
It's voie vert, literally greenway. You could just get the train to Perpignan, that area has lots of greenways completely separate from the roads and great routes through the hills to small villages and through the vineyards. There is a great route that runs out of Perpignan up the têt valley to Millas, or head to Le Bacares and take the greenway to Estagel then over the col de Bataille to Millas. Even the D roads in that area are very low traffic. Try EV81 to Tauteval then on to St.Paul de Fenouilet.

Malaga and other south Spain areas may be superior than Girona IN WINTER due to their weather and temperature. BUT in summer they are unrideable because very hot temperatures make riding dangerous. With temperatures around 40 Celsius or more every day
@juanrendon9679Күн бұрын
While it's true that inland areas in Malaga can experience very high temperatures during the summer, the coastal regions are different. Malaga's coastal climate is moderated by the sea, making it less hot and more bearable compared to inland areas. The humidity can be a factor, but it's not as extreme as the inland heat. So, Malaga by the sea remains rideable even in summer.

Malaga is a gorgeous city. I hope you get to see some of the sights. Check out the less race-oriented bike shop/cafe Recyclo not far from that shop. Nice coffee, food, and they are a Brompton dealer.

Nice place. I was wondering about the use of English language in the shop. I can understand an English speaker would be using his mother tongue, but what about the signs on the wall? Wouldn't it be prudent to have them in Spanish? I'm confused.

Have you considered organizing tours? Seems like a logical progression. People know you, they like you and you know the prime areas to visit and ride.

Their store is pretty. However it’s too sanitized. Reminds me of Trek or REI stores. Definitely not a typical community bike shop.
