it ain't waste water from the powerplant, it's an "accumulation" lake, created when the ground sank due to the coal mine beneath. at least try to get it right.

That’s what I’ve been told all my life - that they used to dump all kinds of stuff in the lake. Sorry if I didn’t get that right. It’s literally what my grandparents told me lol

Both statements are right. Lakes (škalsko, velenjsko, šoštanjsko etc.) were formed by sinking grounds, because of "empty" coal mines beneath it and water started to "accumulate". However, I know for Velenje lake, due to poor "ecological" legislation in good old times TEŠ and/or Premogovnik started to dump harmful materials, mainly "burned ash" in big hole or holes. All in all ashes are today in lowest part of the lake and even if some people say that the lake is dead, it is not. Škale, smaller lake, on the east (north-east) side, was created when coal miners strucked or met, literal translation of this can be "water vein" or some kind of"aquifer". Waters than rushed in coal mine "full" of coal and newly formed lake became acidic. Fun fact, there was smaller lake on the location of football stadium, but it was drained and covered. From cultural prespective and from living standard in Velenje I can say, however its very subjective opinion, because I live in Velenje for 20 years, its pretty good - not perfect. In my opinion maybe there should be less corruption, and maybe some buildings and actions of city of Velenje like Vista on jezero and specially new "mastodonts" were not racional. P.S. Anyone who wants to remove Tito's statue is not sane. In my opinion, it would be like removing castle, because our grand grand grand... grand father was prosecuted by nobles, who lived there 300 years ago. Its not the same, but its history, which should not be altered or removed for our stupid agendas today.

Hi Kaya,I’m a Filipino love to watch of Nana/Bryles Tandem. But I feel sad to what happened to them because of Fans Pressures,specially from the Filipinos(my Countryman). They expect to much that Nana and Bryle become Lovers,as for me? I’m contented if they still good Friends.,coz I understand that we cannot force People to be in love. To the tourists, its not the most depressing city in Slovenia. Yes, there arent many old beatuiful buildings (tho there are some in Staro Velenje), but the commieblocks are often renovated and therefore hold up well and are even better than some newly built buildings despite their old age. The socialist urban planning is goated as well. Bicycle lanes are almost everywhere and pedestrians can walk care free in the city center, because it's a pedestrian only area. We have a lot of nature, the people are kind and due to a lot of balkan immigrants, you will find tasty balkan staples such as burek, čevapi and kebab as well. I would even dare say it's among the best small towns in europe. Don't listen to pretentious Ljubljana joongla paid off ass youtuber types and give Velenje a visit, im sure you will like it. The weather isnt always gray here as well.
