TBF Ray was really kind with Bronco to not destroy that iconic bot too much when it was flipped over. But lucky at the end. First time i ever saw Tombstone chassis to break.

I think Bronco was probably a lot closer to winning than it looked, if it was driver or bot driveability that failed, he very nearly had a flip on Tombstone and if tombstone jumps with the blade at full speed, he basically dies on the landing

Then the meta evolved and pretty much every bot was able to tank Tombstone's hits, while Tombstone would self destruct on its own weapon or have it disabled, rendering Tombstone useless.

Just look at tombstone vs biteforce. Biteforce focus all on defences, tanking tombstone hit as much as possible with minimum damage taken, while dominating tombstone on driving and control, leading to win by judge score. Simple yet effective strategy.

The meta evolved, and the matchmaking 'evolved' too. Tombstone is still capable of destroying plenty of bots, but he is often thrown the hardest opponents, live vertical spinners, his achilles heel. In the mean time weaker robots are given easier paths to the brackets.

Oh man, I loved Tombstone but I developed such a hate towards the owner. In a way it works, as I started seeing him as the villain in every tournament and I was looking forward to all his matches just hoping to see him finally being beaten.

@@joewhite4456 I personally thought he was just a bit too cocky and too much of a 'bad winner'. If I can cheer for anyone except one person, then I personally think there's definitely something going on. My opinion doesn't reflect reality though. I know how TV loves to cut scenes and show someone however they want to. He might be an incredible guy IRL. But in that case sadly the show did a little too well to portray him as the villain.

Larger weight classes stagnate because they’re so expensive to build making experimentation harder, you’ll see a lot more unique bots in 3lb and 12lb competitions especially with their more varied rule sets.

He's playing the bad guy character, it's been said several times that behind the scenes Ray is one of the sweetest people out there. It's just that it fits the whole "tombstone" theme for him to be the evil guy in the arena, plus it makes the show more exciting to watch when there more carnage (because let's be honest that's one of the main reasons we're here) and therefore benefits everyone.

Even though Ray Billings is a trash talker he never completely destroyed his opponents. When they said they were done he stopped. Also he took it like a Pro when Bite Force destroyed him

i have a better idea for most destructive horizontal, instead of having a dual-blade (it goes both sides), have 1 sided blade and on other side have a much shorter counter weight to balance the blade, this way you can spin it twice as fast while keeping the same impact/grind factor. it means if it spins too fast, then it turns into a grinder and won't have this "bite" to kick opponents, but when it's single sided blade, you have to spin it twice as fast to turn it into a grinder, which means that with single-sided spinner, hits will be TWICE as hard! some bots use similar design, but they're verticals. i forgot the exact names, but i've seen couple bots with similar spinner design, however i don't know how fast they're spinning it. this design only comes in handy when you spin it faster than dual-spinner's grind factor (or whatever you call it). i'm sure every builder knows exactly what i mean, i just don't know the correct term for it. @Ray if you're reading this, give it a go, i'd really like to see such spinner! hits should be INSANE!

Ray has tons of sportsmanship, "you want more" is a genuine question which opponents can say no to. He always helps other teams in the pits too and is an overall great guy. His bad guy act is just a fun character.

Ray asks his opponents if they're ok with being hit again after they've been immobilised, if they don't mind then he goes in for another hit, if they're not then he leaves the bot alone. There's so many fights where Tombstone knocks their opponent out then stears well clear of them.
