MOST DIFFICULT DRIVE LEAVING A SITE IN A 7.5M MOTORHOME

Watch us go through heart stopping moments as we struggle to get our beloved Katie Motorhome out of an Italian Campsite. We negotiate the Olive Tree Chicane, Squeeze out of the gate with just 2-3mm to spare each side and then race down the very narrow road before something comes in the other direction!
We are 2.23m wide and 7.5m long. Don't let this video put you off visiting this lovely campsite, just be aware care needs to be taken.....

Nice one. Just remember us new caravaneers towing an 8 foot wide van plus its 7.8m long plus tow Car! I'm new to caravan life and hit this problem in Cornwall two weeks ago. Nearly burnt the clutch out manoeuvring back and forth. Guess we need a caravan sat nav. Love your channel BTW and yes, sat nav on order lol😅

How did you get it in to start with? As an articulated truck driver delivering into Supermarkets around London, i know how you felt. Well done though, might of been a bit easier if you could of been straighter to your nearside when you first came into the narrow part from the site. Here is a tip from me for big MH and Caravanners: When turning either left or right always remeber to do it as a big L.

Hi Mark, it was tight getting in too🤣, I must have taken it slightly wider though as it wasn't as bad, I do take a wide sweep at corners 👍 but i'd just passed through a gate on the way out before needing to turn so had to be careful of the back end swinging out and catching. I think its one of those which is fine if you get the line dead right, sure the locals find it easy! Always have a lot of respect for the truck drivers in cities, very skillful👍 Cheers...Andy&Michelle

Hi, the rear overhang really caused the problem, I was conscious not to swing out too early as i'd just passed through a gate. This put me tighter into the corner on both sides of the motorhome and I realised I wasn't going to make it so I reversed back slightly, then it "just" went through😅 Cheers...Andy&Michelle

Hi Alan and Jane, its great to hear you are enjoying our channel and congrats on joining the world Motorhoming! 😀 we have a SatNav from cmnav.co.uk which allows us to put the vehicle dimensions in, we only use this when we think there's a significant risk of narrow roads, most of the time we just use Apple Maps as the interface on the iPhone is so much quicker and easier. cheers..Andy&Michelle

Hi Mark, it was Camping Olivella, it's a lovely campsite but yes, a tight squeeze for us at 7.5m, it was the only one open, our first choice was (camping Punta d'oro) which didn't open until the 1st April. The Italian lakes are just superb, you'll have a great time😀 Cheers...Andy&Michelle

Just like me getting in and out of my parking position behind my garage everytime I use the van Got 25mm spare on all three points of contact. but I do it loads so no big deal. Once hired a A class in Portugal and got it stuck in a little white washed village . Now that did make me sweat as I had a 1500 euro deposit on it. Good manoeuver glad no scratches..
