Thanks for the bag mowing tip! I always thought that mulching was better, but I am getting killed by chamberbitter. It is SO resistant and it blends in with the other grass.

For chamber bitter, apply gallery (isoxaben) in early May pre-emergent. It is expensive but is the only good option. Celsius is worthless for this weed.

I live in upstate south carolina, and have centipede in my front yard. I have been following you and applying the same techniques as you. But I had a bad weed problem. I used atrazine and a 15-0-15 fertilizer in late may. The grass is looking good but I'm noticing some broad leaf weeds that didn't die out completely. Since watching this video I will apply another treatment of atrazine, and fertilizer. You have really helped me. Thanks for the information.

Thanks a lot. If the atrazine doesn’t help with the broad leafs you can spot spray them in a few weeks with the Fertilome WFZ and that will knock them out

Hello, excuse me if this is a repeat comment. My original comment was posted on my iphone; I don't know if it posted from my iphone. First, your youtube channel is what I have been looking for for several weeks. You have discussed many questions that have been on my mind. To start, I begin growling centipede grass from seed in February. In my area, Melbourne, Central Florida, centipede sod is not unavailable. A few of the sod dealers told me they had never heard of centipede grass. I chose centipede grass over bahia, St. Augustine, and Bermuda because my research showed that centipede does not required a large fertilizer loading, requires less water, and the grass does not grow high. My original lawn (basically mowed weeds) was removed completely by a septic tank/drain field company that replaced our old system last year. I did not want the expense of adding a large sodded lawn with with either St Augustine or Bermuda. Currently I am 30-40% seeded, total area about 700 ft2. I prepare an area of about 20 ft2, usually 3 times a week. Germination is very slow. But the original plots made in February are lush with centipede grass. As my centipede lawn develops over the next several months I will have questions. Again, thanks for creating an excellent channel. Hemi

Thanks for nice comments. Yes the germination will be slow but it supposedly fills in nicely with time. Water and sun are your friends with the seed. Thanks for watching!

In Raleigh NC... Another one to for chamberbitter is Southern AG with Trimec. You'll have to do two applications, approximately 7 days apart, but as a post-emergent it does an excellent job on chamberbitter and it's reasonable on crabgrass and other weeds. And I agree strongly with the bag mowing, at least well you're killing the chamberbitter.

I used Celcius (spot sprayed) at the lowest rate in 1.5 gallons of water in my backyard as a test. It smoked most all of the weeds I sprayed. It wasn't overnight success, but after about 4-5 days they started yellowing. I'm hoping it will stunt, or help get rid of, Bahia spots I have in my front lawn. My lawn was looking rough for a while due to high heat and lack of rain for almost a month. Once the rain came back, the lawn has really bounced back. Running my irrigation just couldn't cut it compared to the rain water.

That is great to know about Celsius. If one is going to spend that much on a herbicide, it better work well, haha...it’s great to know I can get that if I feel I need it. And yes there is nothing like good rain. I’ve been lucky so far this year with plenty of rain and sun. As a result the yard is looking the best it ever has. Thanks for the comment!

Should I be doing anything to encourage centipede to grow over the bare spots? I've got a few in my yard but they don't seem to be getting any noticeable improvement like yours.
@CentipedeCentralLawnCare
@CentipedeCentralLawnCare 3 жыл бұрын
The main things are frequent mowing to encourage lateral growth, no pre emergent in those areas, and build soil with Humic and make sure the bare soil doesn’t become rock hard. You could scatter some peat moss in those bare areas to encourage it as well.

Hey bud, thanks for the content on Centepede grass. I'm in south GA having to deal with the same weather you are and unfortunately threw down some Weed and Feed about a month ago right as the pump on my well went out that runs my irrigation. Needless to say I've got some yellow tinted Centepede that's attracting the wrong type of attention. I'm extremely new to all of this but am super interested in fertilizers, pre-emergent and weed control in general. Is there a way to reach out to you via email to discuss a few situations I'm facing with my lawn? Keep posting for us, great work!
