2005 Ashley Cole is so unfair. Arsenal were the bad guys not Cole. In 2004 Real Madrid was interested in Cole. Real was willing to offer him £150k per week. He said no to Real in favour of Arsenal. At Arsenal he was on £40k but the club promised him £50k shortly after real came in. However biggest deal his agent received in the next 12 months was £45k. Meanwhile lots of other players had massive pay increases and a couple of signings on much higher wages. Cole didn't leave Arsenal because of the £100k per week from Chelsea. He did it because he felt lied to and under appreciated. He was angry that he was promised a raise that the club then went back on it and gave half of senior squad big pay increase. I know Henry was a special case but his wages went from £70k to £170K but lots of other players got well over £10k more per week. Cole was offered £10k extra. Then Arsenal said actually we can't afford it because we are giving everyone else in the team so much extra. Arsenal tried to use Coles loyalty against him and it backfired.
