I was married in the early 1980's and thoguh some of these dresses I loved, I get my daughter hates those. I hated my mother's 1940's one too, 1 thought it wonderful they modernized the gowns to suit the daughters' taste, so they get a wear again with a touch of nostalgia. None of those daughters wanted to wear the 1980's gowns. Now their mom's gowns get another wear. Granted if this ware antique 1920's gowns I would say no, but there are still so many 1980's gowns around, I see no issue. There is still plenty left for museums to have 50 years from now. Besides many of these gowns get donated to thrift stores. They are not being preserved by the former wearer or her family. I have seen several videos where young women bought several thrift store gowns to craft their own wedding gown. They would spend a couple of hundred dollars and then with talent and elbow grease end up with a gown that would retail for thousands. So, why not? Many of these gowns have expensive and exquisite satin and lace that can be reused instead of ending up in a landfill.

It looks like they kept a lot of the original fabric, but the neckline could have been pulled up just a little. I think they could have done more than just make a train with all that fabric through. Maybe an overskirt of some kind?

Saranya Garapati God yes! That first one I'd have worn as is. Then it turned...ugly. Horrible neckline. Looked sloppy.they removed all that gorgeous lace from the bottom and replaced it with something that looks cheap as hell. 😕😕

The first dress..her mother was really sad, she loved her dress so much and didn't want to change it..then they turned that beautiful dress into a hideous one.. that's so sad 😕😞

All they needed to do with the first dress was remove the high neck panel and get the lace back to white, not ruin it like they did.

You can see the heartbreak in that poor mothers eyes seeing her beautiful dress destroyed into that horrible cheap looking disaster. The second dress should have be kept as is and just bought a new one. It was so sentimental and changed to barely recognizable. Dress 3 was the only one that deserved its destructive fate.

The first dress was beautiful, classical, tasteful and authentic even for today's standards. Then they turned it into a wrinkly, poorly-fitted, budget bride catalogue mess. I'm unimpressed by the other dresses also.

I don't see why they use the original dresses when they looked completely different when changed. Just buy new dress and those pretty dresses will be saved and maybe can be used by someone who appreciate them more. Such a waste, especially the first one.

The mothers on this show really want their daughters to wear their dress, and as such are willing for it to be modified. It gives the dress a new life, instead of staying unused in a cupboard forever

I'm only minutes in the first transformation... The before dress was way prettier.... I mean.. To make it a bit dated is just maybe to be remove the see through lining in the neck area... The after transformation looked looked like something you purchased off from WISH... the bad section

I don't know how Daughters can be this mean! That's their mothers gown, the wedding dress they bought for a special day you will only truly have once in your life. If your mother wants you to have their dress when your about to get married but you don't like it, just buy a new dress that you actually love. They won't get offended if you don't want to wear that dress, There's no need to ruin Your mums dress for something else that doesn't even look decent. Like the first dress was so beautiful before and they just ruined it.

The first dress was fine except for that weird sleeve and then the transformation... I wish they would have gave it a long sleeve. 2nd dress should have just been strapless but it’s... Definitely better than before. 3rd dress makes me think of hippies at the Kentucky derby and the transformation was beautiful
