Trying the same, I had the old 2007 clone trooper battle pack but my friend used to take all my minifigures when we were younger. Never cared until I saw the money in it 😂😂

I know this has been said before, but what I have found the most helpful and least dreadful is just taking a bowl, scooping out of the bin of mixed parts until the bowl is full, then sort the contents of the bowl into different categories; bricks, snot pieces, slopes, curved slopes, tiles, clips and plates. then after repeating the process until the bin is empty you can go one by one and sort divide each pile into its respective colors. Finally for getting all the parts for each set, bricklink has an inventory of every lego set, you can use this a alot more efficiently than the instruction manuals due to it being far easier to read and differentiate colors (mainly older sets have this issue i.e. brown looks black). You can then bring over the bin of whatever brick type you want to do first in the parts list, if you were to do snot bricks then you would go through the list and add every snot brick indicated by the parts list, then rinse and repeat for all the types. This gets rid of the need for going back and getting all the different types over and over, making it only necessary to get each type once. I was able to sort about 34lbs of lego in 2 days with this method and I didn't go insane doing it.

I bought a bulk Lego box off eBay, so far I’ve put 6 set’s together out of it. A Jurassic Park helicopter, a tie fighter, a black tie interceptor, a vulture droid, a Naboo star fighter, and a speeder.

Just sort the all by plates slopes bricks and misc and Minifigures. Then sort all of those 4 main categories by color. Then when you rebuild a set you just go to the bag with that piece.

I faced the task. 2 weeks later it was done. It was worth it. I recommend doing it.

I came up with my own system because I am rebuilding my Stranger Things set. I go through the booklet and find the pieces, that are all in a specific bag (the set has 12 bags in total) I put the pieces in that and when I'm finished I can get the full LEGO building experience lmao.

I just spent a whole day sorting and rebuilding 7676 Republic Attack Gunship from my childhood and a day after completing it... Everything hurts, thighs, back, bum, hips. Man, I hate getting older. Need a proper place to do it, but where I am I have limited space.. I have more sets to rebuild but I'm going to take a breather and reevaluate on how get into a better building position. Need a big desk and rebuild them there, but so far I'm recovering from just the first rebuild lol

The idea that putting more effort into the application than doing it by hand is a waste of effort is NOT the way engineers and computer people approach things. I'm always willing to expend an enormous amount of effort to be lazy. :)

I bought a tub of old spiderman sets and Harry Potter sets from the early 2000s has one of the batcaves just got finished organizing all the pieces by color to help locate pieces easier

Here’s how I do it: Step 1 sort all parts by color. Photo copy instructions book Start collecting parts by color and use a pen to check off the parts you collected on photocopied paper not to ruin og instructions

I have hundreds of old lego star wars sets from when i was a kid, i also tore most of them apart while playing with them. I have some sets worth quite a bit of money including the rancor pit, millennium falcon, star destroyers, endor station i have countless star wars sets and batman/ jurassic world sets. Problem is they are scattered in about 7 giant toats filled to the brim with lego pieces. And the amount of lego minifigures i have is insane. I know the lego batman tumbler and jokers van is worth upwards of 1000 bucks but im not sure exactly

I can totally relate to accidently smashing lego sets while playing with them, my old room used to be like a warzone, broken lego everywhere, then we had our house renovated and my mom went through my room and basically threw out my entire childhood. Now it's 6 years later, and I want nothing more than to be able to take a trip down memory lane.

70,000? I didn't even know Lego made sets that big. My dog also destroyed one of mine, after I saw what he did, I quite literally just refused to acknowledge it for a solid 5 months? Then I just sat down, took it apart, and threw it in a box, 3 years later I'm finally starting to rebuild it. Did you ever end up finishing yours?

I must know. How in God's name did you also keep all the manuals? I'm 18, the only few remaining sets that i have from my childhood are 3. The Corner Garage, Bandit Hideout, and a firestarion from like 2019, im telling you, had I been more careful with my lego I would have like 5 tubs full of them, but guess what? I want to buy them again, but sadly almost all my old sets have been discontinued by their respective manufacturers, sad really.
