I tear up, a lot, whenever I watch these videos. The love, the realization their loved one is actually in person, the unimaginable joy, the second or two to go from a normal life to complete happiness. I thank the men and women who chose to serve in the military, and I thank the families for their handling the hardship of missing a loved one. God bless you all.

I've been watching these for years now and they never get old! People need to realize just how much of a sacrifice all these soldiers make to serve their country! I came home on leave in December 1990, just before Desert Storm. I flew in from Frankfurt, West Germany (remember that!) to Dulles (now Reagan Airport). My Mom hit me like a middle linebacker! Nearly took me off my feet, all 4'11" of her! I had 45 days leave built up but could only take 28 days. Had to be back to the unit by 7 January 1991. Hint, hint! Got deployed to Desert Storm later in 91. I spent 3 years in the Army. I was overseas for 27 of those 36 months.

Seeing these brings back memories of when, after over 3 years, when I finally got home, I had a couple of really close friends of my family arrange dinner for my parents on their anniversary and had my siblings and some other close friends. I had made a video for my parents, wishing them a happy anniversary and reminding them and my siblings that that day was the reason why we were all there... And then I walked up to my mother with her filet & lobster fried rice and she lost it. It was amazing!
