Getting him as a UFA is a STEAL ! He reminds me of James Brooks. People forget Brooks was a small back too...but was a great every down back. Also reminds me a bit of Darren Sproles. I think he'll end up being Gio's replacement as a 3rd down back and probably even see some time in the Slot or out wide in certain packages. Actually, I'd love to see the Bengals run more 2 back sets. Now, the pick that confused me was the Kicker....who DRAFTS a Kicker ? I mean, unless the guy is putting EVERY Kickoff thru the End Zone, NEVER misses an Extra Point and has hit 60 + yard FG's every other week in College...I can't see spending a Draft pick on him ! However I did REALLY like the Ossai pick...I think he's a sleeper....can play him at Edge or OLB...and he has a NASTY streak ! When you see his film he diagnoses well...is very "sudden" to the ball and when he gets there he doesn't just look to tackle guys....he's looking to BLOW MFERS UP !
@billymaysthewheelchair48083 жыл бұрын
@@keithsowder275 I'm not even a Bengals fan and I think this kid is definitely a steal. I expected him to go somewhere in the 6th round and I think he should've gone even earlier than that but I can think of a few reasons why his draft stock dropped. Maybe his foot could've been a concern because of the lawnmower accident he had as a kid. He's also extremely skinny for a RB. He is 4 inches taller but 25 lbs less than Bears' RB Tarik Cohen and people say he's undersized. However, I think just like DeVonta Smith, Pooka doesn't let his size get in the way his playstyle. He doesn't let his foot get in the way of his playstyle either. He runs just like RBs with all ten toes left. I think he will be fine in the NFL and I can even see him becoming a key part of the Bengals offense within a few years.
@keithsowder2753 жыл бұрын
@@billymaysthewheelchair4808 I agree, first of all we all know that the RB position isn't valued like it used to be, second, this draft was very deep in impact OL, QB, WR and LB's...and it just so happened that those were the positions of need for most teams...third is the foot issue then the size issue ( and I've always thought that was bullshit when they say an RB that was super productive in college is "too small" to be a feature back in the NFL...if you can play, you can play ). I couldn't agree with you more I AM a lifelong Bengals fan and he reminds me a LOT of James Brooks ( I think Brooks was a bit bigger 5' 9" 175 ) but he was an every down back for years. Trust me, when I compare any back to Brooks...it's high praise !
@keithsowder2753 жыл бұрын
@@1mg Sorry, unless he's putting EVERY Kickoff in the End Zone, NEVER missed an Extra Point in his career and hits 70 + yard FG's with regularity...there is NO WAY I waste a Draft pick on a Kicker. and yes...I saw the highlight film...still a Kicker, you can always pick up a decent one off waivers...so I don;t care if the kid is the next Morton Andersen...IMO there's just no value in wasting a draft pick on a Kicker
Why did he have such uninspiring numbers last year compared to his freshman year? More tape on him for the big12 to game plan against?? Is he perhaps still limited in the different ways he can come at you? Is he one of those all or nothing backs? Or was it simply due to a porous offensive line? I assumed it was just cuZ of the line and playing for a bad team....I guess I just wasn’t sure what had changed from 2018, you know? Khalil Herbert was able to bust 7 20 yard runs in 4 games behind that same line so I was just wondering what was up with pooka??! I’m not hating. I think this dude is going to have quite the NFL career if he ends up on the right team and system. I think his mind is going to be blown if he’s able to play for a team that can actually open holes. I think playing for a team like Kansas is going to help his career honestly, as opposed to these backs we see over the years at schools with amazing offensive lines. They get to the NFL and their line V line advantage They grew accomsotmed to is gone and they are like..crap. Lol.

Pooka is a special player! I like this kid a lot. Aside from his evident “change of direction”, “chunk play ability”, and insane jukes; I was amazed by his patience for creases to open - especially on those “draw” plays and scat handoffs. His athleticism and speed are off the charts and he seems to have great hands as well. My only concerns (for nfl projection) is that he will probably need to gain a decent amount of weight to avoid being a later-round pick and to also avoid being stamped as a specific “3rd down back”. However that is certainly attainable as he is young and has a manageable frame (5’10) to add to the 170lbs (which is listed?). If he can train his way into the mid-180lbs, (and he’s actually 5’10”😬🤥) then he could very well be considered a full time back. However that’s certainly a big “IF”, lol, yet even if he doesn’t - speed ALWAYS kills!! So he will still get his shot on specials, 3rd long, etc. Nothing wrong with the Kevin Faulk’s and Darren Sproles’ of the world! Yet - all in all - when you look at the size and physicality of the defenses of today (league-wide)- - - it is no surprise whatsoever that the top 10 rushers of last season are all 208-210lbs (Min.), with the majority (and top 5 mind you!) hovering in the 225+ range! Regardless - Pooka is giving Jayhawk nation and fans all over a lot to be excited for next season!! 👏👏🔥🔥
@stewart23134 жыл бұрын
He’s definitely going to have to put on weight at the next level. He will have to be in a west coast style system. Patriots use running backs with skill set in the screen game ( Dion Lewis, Woodhead, James White, etc...)

@JABurtin4 жыл бұрын
Probably not a true "threat" as the last three coaches have been continuously picking up far too many Juco transfers and mortgaging the future development of the team. Miles finally stopped the Juco carousel by picking up a class of all true freshmen, which will make them very young this year. He makes his own plays, so he should have a good year, but he'll have to carry a heavy load. Next year when all of those players are sophomores I could see them being pretty solid. It depends on how some of these young guns develop.
