@@chrissibersky4617 idk man try to get a large canvas and create les femmes d'alger, dora maar au chat, le reve, from scratch and make it look the way his does, plus he pulled those images out of nowhere, we get the advantage of copying his. he was truly a total master of drawing and painting as far as skill, then he just went his own creative direction and made what he felt. it's such a personal thing art though, some will look ugly or some you'd never hang in your house or a museum maybe, but you gotta respect his drawing/painting skill. if anything, if you see his as ugly, then that should just help you discover the direction you want to go to make something truly beautiful and better, and not the direction he went

@@CodCats I understand Picasso's paintings. I know that he is a master at painting and has invented revolutionary ways of depicting things. The result is still looking objectivity ugly and infantile. But I know why some people love it. It's like with a very high end and expensive meal. Beyond what has been sold, paintings with highest estimated value are La Gioconda and Guernica, at around $3,000 million each, being Guernica much cheaper per square inch 😆. As those are not for sell in the foreseeable future, that value is estimated from what some reputed institutions say they would pay if those paintings were for sell. (Not considering Fresco arts, Lascaux, Altamira, etc... !!) I guess that a single crop of the Altamira paints (35,000 years ago) has much, much more value than any art made in the last 5 millennia. Still... we cannot say an economic value of these, it would be vandalizing that art.

So i wanted to understand why does Rothko's no. 6 worth 186 million dollars: It's size is 238.8 x 145.1 cm (94 x 57 in) "Rothko wasn’t big on titles. He liked to let his paintings speak for themselves. That’s why No. 6 doesn’t have a fancy name - just a number and some colors. It’s like he wanted you to come up with your own story" I'm actually getting sick of these meaningless articles, so after all i just opened the painting on a new tab and started to thing about why does he painted it this way. I think the violet stands for the blue sky, the green is the ground seems pretty simple till the red part. The red probably is the expression of the emotions and it's effect you see the world that's why the red covers the violet and the green parts. "Have you ever stood in front of a painting and felt like you were being swallowed whole? That’s what Rothko wanted. He painted his pieces big because he wanted you to feel them, not just see them." It's price definitely depends on it's size because if it would be smaller it would loss it's charm, otherwise we all can imagine this painting in a sceene where a billionaire stands before the painting, drinking a glass of red wine and for him the painting has the meaning of being rich and in this case only those people understands that "rich" feeling who has a huge piece of art hanging on the wall in a minimalistic room. It's might sounds stupid, but these painting showing the prestige of the person who owns it. Personally my favourite artists are Rembrandt and Dürer, i'd like to own a copy of their etchings just to see all the details of their masterpieces. But watching Rothko's paintings you can't really speak about details, you can try to figure out what's the meaning behind the colours, but you don't know if there's any...

What's with Malevich's Suprematist Competition? And Amadeo Modigliani's paintings were like early Playboy Magazine covers 😂 and those of Willem De Kooning? David Hockney's a simple one, Andy Warhol? Okay, iconic, but hardly a masterpiece, the same for Roy Lichtenstein that's very much like comic drawings, and Mark Rothko with those colors? I guess, they're okay paintings, but not worth those gigantic price, imho. But the rest of the paintings shown in this list, they're all great, and well deserved (yes, even those few of Picasso's, abstract and cubism).

There is one big problem here and that is that there is no comparison of the size of these paintings. Some Picasso's are really big, the Pollock and Rothco are hugh. The size of a painting matters. Also they all look a little bit bland. The scream really pops out of the painting, just like Vincent van Gogh paintings. The high prizes for the paintings is due to the ridiculous prizes middle eastern countries are willing to pay for a lot of art, just to display them in there musea. Some paintings are really not the best work from a lot of these artists. The best works are already in musea all over the world, so they have to do with the scraps. Although I have to admit that the Emperator mundi and the scream are beautiful works of art. And I always liked Pollock. If you really want to know more about painters and art, I can recommend: The private life of a masterpiece and Simon Schama's power of art. These two series are in English and are available as BBC dvd's.
