I think as a German that visited Nairobi and Kenya several times is that Nairobi have to develop it's City Center with a proper, clean and safe Shopping/Culture Avenue. Nairobi is an african world class City but it have to Invest more in infrastructure like a lightrail in Addis Abeba. And the City need a zoo, botanical garden, amusement park, more museums and more Theatres, especially a Opera and to renew the Nairobi Dam as swimming destination. Investments like that would make Nairobi more attractive for tourists, business and natives as well. The golf course in the city centre should be part of the Uhuru Park as well. Dear Kenyans you have to keep the City Centre clean and safe. Greetings from Frankfurt, Germany ;).

@@millymaj762 But you need my advice for safety ;). I am not sure if you can compare Nairobi with Berlin. Nairobi is in some parts very dirty, look at Kibera or the Nairobi river. But the most important thing is that nobody in Berlin have to be afraid to get killed due to robbery. In 2017 when I visited Nairobi last time, my driver got stabbed and I was hit several times with a glas bottle by criminals in the Westlands. I am glad that they didn't injured my kenyan wife and my children and that the driver survived his injuries. I lost up to 1500 Dollar/ Euro and my wife and I deciced never ever to visit Nairobi again with our children. I noticed some rubble, some weeds and vegetation on the side of the road which need someone to attend to and clear them. I'm making this comparison with Sandton in South Africa and even Kigali Rwanda. Attention to detail on the part of maintenance team, is not very good. Otherswise very impressive buildings. @allcontent1964 жыл бұрын
Quite some major improvements if you ask me. First, the area was not planned for such developments. Those roads were rushed . Most aren't even more than 10 years old. It was a residential area that was absorbed by CBD. You'll notice the same with areas like Westlands. The problem with Kenyan contractors is poor workmanship. Another thing is corruption at the county offices. Also, there' the issue of private interests in Nairobi metropolitan. If someone in power ain't benefiting then it's never their priority.

Growth and development is good... I only weep for the trees that keep being felled and seldomly replaced to give way for these buildings, .....i feel like Nairobi is choking on concrete not to mention the negative impact on our health and environment.. We should have a law mandating every developer of land, private or otherwise, to plant a minimum number of trees and possibly grass for every building /roads constructed... Love your videos, always on point....
@MrMaboboz4 жыл бұрын
I agree we need more parks, open spaces and trees to compensate for all the concrete.
@rodneyagesa18514 жыл бұрын
Some of these environmental comments are made from a point of mega-ignorance. Go to any tower in Upper Hill and then see how green Nairobi is,there is no shortage of trees.
@MrMaboboz4 жыл бұрын
@@rodneyagesa1851 There is a shortage of trees anywhere you look in the world and Nairobi is no exception., research shows that Nairobi is getting hotter as the years go by and this can be directly linked to all the trees we are felling for infrustructure and housing development. We should be on a national drive to push back the deserts and the arid/semi arid areas of the country, this would at least compensate for all the trees we are cutting down.
@rodneyagesa18514 жыл бұрын
@@MrMaboboz those are your theories regarding Nairobi go to any high rise building and you will find that over 60% of Nairobi is actually covered by forest. Global warming is happening but Africa and Kenya in particular has had very little contribution to cause it.
@prittyad92564 жыл бұрын
@@rodneyagesa1851 you do realize Nairobi isn't just upper hill and it's environs.... Matter of fact climb down from the towers you mentioned in upper hill and take a tour of Nairobi, you will find that kwa ground things are different... I'll give you a clue, visit south b areas around Balozi estate, pipeline coming toward donholm, some parts of Rongai, major parts of eastlands, ....feel free to research on other areas, Nairobi is large, then come back, let's have this conversation when you have a clue of what's being discussed here..

Hey African travelers am always looking forward for your updates. Thanks for the good work your representing in a big way. I like this video of upper hill development. And much appreciated. However since there were more than one project taking place especially on the roads around it. These roads has not been highlighted by any youtuber in details particularly on the progress and in-depth details. And if possible could you please highlight more separately so we understand whats happening.... thank you again Johnes.. for good work.

Thanks for keeping us posted in the development of Kenya for us Kenyan's in the USA .It's sad that Kenyans are forced to go overseas due to lack of Jobs because of corruption and poor policy management like closing our Industries and sending the Jobs to China due to cost of doing business in Kenya is more expensive then China .Look at Vietnam the rising star of the East that has good policy management has made the cost of doing Business cheaper then China.Kenya is blessed with English speaking Educated People, what we need is less taxes ,reduced Energy and Water cost that can make our Industry competitive .Example we could produce High Tech Smart Phones for less then $400 since we have most of the raw materials like Cobalt and Lithium from the Congo less then 3 days drive from Nairobi. Vietnam has no naturally resources and uses raw materials from Africa and under cuts China production to make their products attractive. Seriously we Kenyans and Africans in general need to wake up i hate being in the USA living and working as i have no other choice due to lack of jobs because of poor policies .I pray this changes will be in my lifetime
@ordinaryme49734 жыл бұрын
Curious 🤨 who forced you to go work abroad? (USA)! Millions of Kenyans live right there in Kenya.
@westmax84914 жыл бұрын
@@ordinaryme4973 sadly most kenyans are not thriving. Manufacturing is expensive in kenya due to corruption, high energy costs, high taxation just like kariuki said. An example is look at P&G company moved their company to Egypt because kenya has become unbearable to run production. Electricity in Egypt is 1/3 the price what we pay in kenya. Think about that. Kenya won't industrialize as there are no incentives for companies to bring production here
