I AM NOT IMPRESSED. First the road network is not wide enough, no pedestrian lanes,side walks , biscycle lanes or enough space for BRT.I am also not happy with the simplistic design of the buildings,It shows lack of imagination of the planners. Kenyan architects please pull up your socks and be innovative with the futuristic design of the buildings, learn from China. These designs am seeing are outdated and very simplistic. those buildings look like the old buildings at Nairobi river road 1970s soviet era design.

A Tanzanian too. I love this. I heard of Konza city before but never have I seen such an informative and detailed presentation of the project. As Africans, we can make Konza City our model. Similar projects for our future generations should be put into plan right now. We need to scale it up and figure out on how such projects should be all-inclusive, lest we create classes of people and steer up conflicts within our own selves. The aim should be: come year 2100 virtually all people in the EA federation (if at all it will be there), should be dwelling in smart cities. Nimekuwa nikiwaza sana kuhusu hii idea ya kuwa na underground tunnel alongside the roads to serve for the named purpose. nilijaribu hata kushea idea hii na engeneer mmoja akaniambia it is possible but very expensive. Leo nimefurahi kuona kumbe wazo nililokuwa nalo linatekelezeka it is also part of the set-ups of smart cities. Hongera sana jirani zetu waKenya.

It really shows you do not understand your country and development going on in Nigeria. 1. Google EKO ATLANTIC CITY and search for the video on KZbin, you will see how Atlantic Ocean was reclaimed, pushed the water to where it was 100 years ago and building a great smart city there. In that City, it will be the financial hub of Africa. US government is building the biggest Consulate ever there as we speak. 2. In Abuja, another Centenary Smart City was started in 2014 to commemorate 100 years of Nigeria when the Southern and Northern Protectorates came together to form Nigeria. In Lagos alone there are about 3 smart city being built right now. Google it, you will see all of them. The political noise and tribal war have covered the massive infrastructure development going on. I can see many castigating Nigeria directly and indirectly here. It's OK. They will be shocked and surprised when the noise die down and the people, especially Nigerians see what is on the ground. It's a matter of time. For now, let me rejoice with with Kenya. Thank you Bitange Ndemo. When you came up with it,we (many Kenyans) thought it was a joke,but,now here,we can all see and witness it fiscally. Mungu akulinde TU Mkisii wewe!

My main fear was for the wildlife, but I'm happy to see they've made provisions for a corridor. Kenyans always prioritise the environment which is wonderful to see.

Why do Kenya's 47 governors and their delegations spend time and money to go benchmark abroad on urban planning when Konza is a bus ride away? This is impressive and every county in Kenya needs to do urban planning like it is being done in Konza. Get rid of roadside shacks/market stalls, get rid of matatu chaos, get utilities underground, etc. Enough rant...from Yurop, Kisumu.

Why do people refer to Kisumu as Europe / lower Europe

Cause it's not yet functional... You need to see a proper functioning city with mobility... Business ... Housing ...

Beautiful to see the ingenuity of Kenyans. This should be a model for all countries in Africa to build cities this way from the start. Amazing!

The brilliance and articulacy of Alex Chamwada and everyone he interviewed is a vibe. Very eloquent and well updated in their field of work. Kudos to them. 👍On a different note, the potential that our country Kenya has is immeasurable. However, the current political class wants to loot dry all the resources we have. A time is coming when the electorate will heal from the tribal syndrome and vote in responsible and selfless individuals. Ipo Siku.

Kenya has a massive potential and resources to become a smart country. We have smart minds, ambitious and visionary. Our human capital is at the best. Problem is, we have weak corrupt leaders who easily bend towards foreign forces that hate to see Kenya and Africa evolve. Nevertheless against all odds here we are turning a dream into reality. I'm positive many more investors will be convinced to join in by this milestone. Salute Chamwanda for great coverage.

or a branch line from the existing SGR extended to the existing nairobi railway station, with more frequent schedules
@death_paradeАй бұрын
@@ericmosioma6319 What signalling are you guys using in SGR? Increasing frequency of trains to provide metro-like services on mainline railways is not just a frequency thing, you need different paradigms, like fixed block vs moving block, etc. At least that has been our experience in Indian Railways.

This is super impressive. I can’t tell you how happy I’m to witness this type of project in Kenya. It’s a well thought and well executed project which in its self is not an easy feat especially in our African continent. As someone in property development in Nigeria, I’m impressed and inspired. Hope to see many more of its kinds all across Africa. It’s high time. Well done Konza Love from Nigeria.

Well done & congrats! This is the kind of news & development that we need from Africa. If I was a Kenyan, I would aim to build a house in this city. Good planning is what we need even in all our old African towns & cities.

This isn't for local city development, you can't build there unless you're a tech investor. The surrounding towns and regions are open and will benefit from the growth.
