Frankly speaking, they shouldn't have traded him in the first place. They got hot to close the season, but they weren't exactly a good team last year with Russ. And, Beal didn't step up much as a leader. Probably would've been in similar standing, as a play-in level team, with Wall. And, if Beal wanted out, then, a trade for him (which still seems inevitable) would've netted a bigger return than what they got for Russ
@NothingElseMattersJM
@NothingElseMattersJM 2 жыл бұрын
@@Joe_Parmesan Wall isn’t Westbrook bad from outside but he’s still mediocre. I’ll give him credit for being willing to take them though. He still can produce for teams as a two way player who gets others involved, finishes at the rim and plays great man and pick/roll defense but as a 3-5th option instead of the 1st- 2nd option he was in Washington with Beal.The biggest thing keeping teams from signing him are his contract and his injuries. He’s averaging under 40 games a season in the last 3 years and slashing guards tend to decline faster than shooting ones.

J. Wall became another casualty of Harden quitting on his teammates. The simple fact that he didn't even give Wall & Cousins a chance was a preview of exactly how things went with the Nets & Sixers.
@JpCurl
@JpCurl 2 жыл бұрын
Typically I’d agree with Gil but I think this exact situation is different this year bc they still play two veteran guards in DJ and EG neither of which are better than Wall. (EG should be protected for a trade collateral) So in this situation it should be evaluated as 1 JG has always played alongside a PG from high school until the Ignite (Bobby brown/J.Jack) 2. KPJ is being forced into a PG role and the reality is yes he’s similar to Harden but by the time Harden reached the Rockets he’s much older and played alongside other superstars/all stars plus this was a role he done through two years of college. Honestly JG and KPJ at competitors and you’ll get more out of them being competitive and winning some games than just letting them get ran. JG is a sponge. KPJ is just God gifted. Then for those who think “we’ll they’re tryna tank” playing Wall still fits that bc he’s not gonna play a whole season (load management) and teams are not going to take him lightly so now those L’s look better in draft race.

Lessen incentive to tank, to give more reason to play Vets. - Bottom 8 teams, should have a little tourney. Winner get top 3 pick guarantee. - the best team among bottom 8. Will get homecourt advantage in Lottery Tourney. Idea here, everyone try to win. Good teams go for playoff lock (top 6-7 in conf) Mediocre team go for play in Bad teams try to get good seeding for lottery games
@emwebb10
@emwebb10 2 жыл бұрын
Think the lottery tourney should be saved for the summer league. Only use the young players in that tournament, and the seeding will based on your team ranking during the regular season.

Can't believe i'd say it, but, he would be a great fit on the Lakers. off topic, but this makes me think of Goran Dragic on the Raptors this year. We're playing our rooks and young guns, and shut down Goran for the season, even though Goran can win us games. Hope we find a good trade.

@carloscolon1585

Nah Gil I don’t agree with that. You would accelerate a lot quicker utilizing the vet. John wall still has a lot to offer and he could be that veteran leader that team needs. I understand the players need to develop, but what vets are they modeling? It seems to me like a wild house is being run in Houston which is doing more harm than good. Results always speak
