If you dig deeper into his story of dropping 60 pts and 50 pts every night against favorite teams was because coaches voted him out of the all stars the previous season and made a promise to drop 30 or 40 against every coach who was involved. i noticed this on so many plays. their watching his hips but he’s watching theirs too. the slightest hesitation he sees from his defenders feet and he’s pulling up. what’s so great about this style of play is he’s not wasting movement and even if the shot doesn’t go in, he draws the foul most of the time. i actually love the way he plays. this is a great play style for undersized guards because he doesn’t rely on athleticism to get to the basket, he’s reading reactions

Would have been one of the top scorer in the history of the game if his prime would have been a bit longer. What a scorer man, jumpshot - off the dribble, finishing in the paint, a complete scoring machine.

14:55-15:02. Look at the amount of air space the defender is given (very minimum).. and look how casually Gillis just rises up and hits the 3.. as if the defender is not even there.

Those last clips with the wizards vs the lakers; damn!! Gil was torching damn near the entire roster.

He’s as quick as a cat stronger than people think can shoot better thank people think both on the dribble and catch and shoot, super crafty underrated athlete can finish at the rim with power and finesse very underrated in the history of the game.

He could’ve been a HOF instead of a footnote in NBA history. He had a short lived prime but some of the best times for a Wizards fan.

The night he dropped 60 on Kobe was the best night of my Wizards life. After years and years of mediocrity, this was the first time Sportscenter gave us any respect. First time I felt a Wizards team could contend, even more than the Michael Jordan teams. I was so hyped and slept good.

Gilbert was one of if not my favorite player around this exact era. He was so smooth and technical and was just a very very entertaining player to watch. I would play NBA live (b4 2k was the shit) on my psp n I would just stay chucking 3s with Gilbert.
