I was able to obtain a recent bootleg cd copy of Shark Sandwich. We'd play it in the bar regularly at closing time and the place would clear out immediately. Great tunes just made customers yearn to be home with their loved ones.

+Black Death 1347 Smell the Glove was a work of genius, it's a shame they pussied out on the cover. The original artwork worked much better with the themes on the album.

Intravenous de Milo is their under appreciated classic, and The Gospel According to Spinal Tap has some great moments!!

I'm a big Pink Floyd fan, but the most polarizing album of their entire catalog -- and one which is hated by many Floyd fans -- was the last one with Roger Waters, 'The Final Cut.' Personally, being a big Waters' fan, I love it. Interestingly enough, Kurt Loder at Rolling Stone gave this album a 5-star review...and then proceeded to lambast Waters' next release, his solo album, 'The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking.'

You are right, many Floyd fans are ignorant and do not know the story behind this album and their truly worst album: A Momentary Lapse of Reason. That album is now seen universally as the Floyd's worst album. Waters solo efforts were sub par except for Amused to Death! If you do research you will find that A Momentary Lapse of Reason is a David Gilmour solo album, no one from Floyd really played on it. Go to my channel I have a video of it.

00jets Ah, but to each his own. While I *do* have personal Floyd album preferences, I can find a lot of good in even their 'lesser' works, like Momentary Lapse. There is some damn good stuff on that album, but yeah, certainly not all of it works well (and some, not at all). As for Waters, well, I admit I love 'Pros and Cons' and 'KAOS,' too, although yes, 'Amused To Death' is his true solo masterpiece, for sure. I guess I consider myself fortunate that I dig most everything Floyd and the Floyd members individually have released. More "bang for the buck," so to speak.

The ELDER was a classic. It was so different - so unlike anything else at the time. Of course critics didn't like it. They didn't like Led Zeppelin IV either. (Not comparing the two, just saying that critics can only offer ONE opinion. Their own.) Some critically hated albums came out at a time in your life when you were still growing up and they heavily influenced the decisions and directions you were considering in life. The ELDER opened me up to the world of fantasy and myth (lucky for me since I became a comparative mythologist). I still hum musical themes from the ELDER even though I haven't actually listened to it in decades - "I am just a boy... too young to be sailing..." The point is - music is art and art is subjective. Critics are absolutely USELESS when it comes to evaluating the "value" of an album to an individual's tastes. If you've ever avoided an old (or recent) album because it was a critical failure - give it a try - you might just find that it SPEAKS to you in a way that it obviously didn't to some stuck-up, arrogant, know it all critic who couldn't strum a chord of music if his/her life depended on it.

I liked and still like GTR. But you have to really, really like guitar to appreciate it. A lot. I will say this in its, ahem, offense: it's mixed weirdly, with a super low-low end; you probably do not have the speakers or headphones to really get all the bass drum that's crammed into the recording. And there are points where Howe's and Hackett's twin lead moments just make your ears bleed. I'd say that it's a "prog-lite" album, meant to be radio-friendly, with everything anyone can possibly do with guitars troweled over it.

Honestly I really like Lulu. It's a solid 4 stars. For reference the first four are all 5 star perfect records. Black album is 2 stars. The rest I haven't been able to listen to for longer than 5 seconds. Lulu is really misunderstood. If you're a fan of Metallica and Lou Reed I think it makes more sense. I consider it their 5th best record.

One really hated album was Styx's Kilroy Was Here album. It's mostly hated because it's pretty much responsible for the breakup of the band, which hasn't been the same since. Personally, though, I think that albums should be looked at for what they are instead of what they did. KWH had some killer tunes on it.

There are two schools-of-thought concerning "Lulu": If you're a Lou Reed fan it was the best thing he'd done in a while. But if you're Team Metallica it's the WORST thing ever released by anyone! (It even pushed Celtic Frost's "Cold Lake" off the map as "Worst Metal Album"!)

Dead Ringer and Music from the Elder were so bad, they were GOOD. Whenever I need that laugh, I put on Dead ringer. Meat Loaf was always silly in his over the top delivery.

Yeah...it's kinda quintessential Lou Reed...so if you liked Reed already, you'll probably like 'Lulu,' but if you are just a Metallica fan, this isn't going to win you over or appeal to you. I love Lou Reed ('Magic and Loss' is one of my all-time favorite albums), so I appreciate what this album was trying to do. I can't say that I think everything was successful here, but I applaud the efforts. I mean, how great is the opening line of this album: "I would cut my legs and tits off / When I think of Boris Karloff and Kinski / In the dark of the moon." That's fucking fantastic.

back in the early 80's, I actually spent money and got KISS 'Music from the Elder.' What a mistake and waste of money. I read Ace's book, he said him and Eric wanted to make a straight up Rock album. Gene and Paul wanted to make the Elder. I can see why Ace wanted out of the band...

L. Salisbury man....those are rough. I know that Manzarek and Densmore in particular wanted to keep playing music, and that's fine. However, The Doors died with Jim. The mystique of the Doors, so much of what made the Doors what it was, was Jim. The other 3 were wildly underrated artists- Robby Krieger being a classically trained flamenco guitarist, Densmore having the chops to go from heavily syncopated rhythms to jamming on bluesy stuff, and Ray Manzarek was a surreal talent. Just gifted. I think if they'd simply let The Doors rest, and pursued the countless other avenues they could have taken, they could have truly created more masterpieces---- then eventually returned to the Doors sound when nostalgia kicked in.

***** guess it depends on what you like. They strayed away from the old jam-like blues-driven rock n' roll. It's a more serious project. Sure there are people, who will dislike that sort of thing, but I personally consider it just as good as the old albums, but in a different way. Like it or not, Axl's vocal performances on this album are definitely his best. Nothing on the old albums came close. And buckethead's solos often make the songs. he added guitar techniques and melody slash never did in any of his work and it's so fresh to hear it on a gnr album. idk....it's a really good album for me and most other hardcore fans but I respect your opinion.

I see some other KISS fans here singing the praises of their "Music From The Elder" album. I LOVED KISS, and WAS a Die-Hard fan... Until the "Elder" record. Face it people!! That album was Pure S#/^^!!! Don't defend it just cuz you're loyal KISS fans! Even KISS themselves admit that the Elder record was garbage! Ace Frehley knew that it was a HUGE mistake when they were making it. He was ahead of the curve. Paul and Gene admitted later that it sucked too, and they shouldn't have released it! The fans wanted a Hard Rock record, and KISS gave them that tripe. That album wiped out a large part of their original fan base.
