Those are cannon ball from from the Civil War. When Sherman's army came through. If you go up to the State House and walk around it, you will see these little copper stars on the walls and the dome. It's from cannon fire. They marke where the balls hit. They even tried to burn it down it down. All of those streets right around the capital are all named after Civil War soldiers, captain's and generals. Next to it is a church just as old as the capital building. There are soldiers barried their. There is also twin little girls barried their also from the mid to late 1800's. Walk the grounds of the State Capitol. It is really beautiful and shares a lot of history, including a time capsule is barried their and walk the cemetery also. It will be worth it!!! I personally live in Lexington, which is known as the Red Bank area. Where soldiers burned down the Lexington County Court House. Which is on Main Street. It was also rebuilt and another one thats pretty new across the street from it. It is much bigger. It's as old as the State Capitol building and the Gervais Street Bridge. The soldiers marched straight through Lexington burning houses down and such. On their way to the State Capitol. Once they made it to Columbia, they then marched 200 miles to Charleston, SC.. On Corley road in Lexington, there is a little park tucked away off side of the road next to some woods. About 10-15 years ago they started excavating off to the side of what was part of the park and little a tiny cemetery there also.Until they came across the grave stones of southern soldiers of more soldiers. I believe some of those soldiers were executed. Which that area of the headstones, the little cemetery was destroyed by Sherman's soldiers as disrespect, so that families could not find their loved ones. I have not been there in years. So I don't know how much more work they've gotten done since then. It's also worth a little peek at it. Note: there is a Living History museum just a couple blocks away. With a house and farm housr from the 1800's and the stuff they used. The house itself is a museum. Right near it a church and cemetery that's at least 1000 years old. The church still rings its bell every hour. I have always loved hearing that bell. There is a lot of history about Lexington. Just search UTube and the internet. The history of Lexington County.

I hope you continue to do more videos of Columbia, SC. Right under the bridge not too far away are a couple of abandoned tunnels that were built during civil war times that were rumored to have lead to the state house and other secret tunnels and secret cemeteries in that area that I have explored myself years ago.

It would be nice to do a little do a little research. The S is not pronounced in Gervais. The bridge doesn't have a C but a crescent moon.

So what’s the story of why the bridge is haunted?
@_Johnspike_2 жыл бұрын
To my understanding, urban legend. The story is surrounded around a woman hitch hiker. I haven’t done a proper paranormal investigation, if that is something you want me to work on comment to let me know 😊🤟

The REAL haunted bridge is the old Sumter Highway Bridge. There's a beautiful lady who will flag a ride from you, you pick her up, and she disappears....right in the middle of the ride! POOF! 😂Thousands of people have been her victim over the years. Research it for yourself. 😃
