A REAL ANGELIC-STYLE GHOST CAUGHT AT 9:45 See the left headstone? Look back in the trees just to the right of that,to see a white mist form solid, into the shape of an angel, then disappear after a second or two Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful! (Of course once you see it, start the video at 9:43 to watch it form... zoom in and slow it down to enjoy the ghost for a long as possible...)

I am a Colorado native, a practicing witch, and a medium. I've visited this set of cemeteries many times, and it's great to get your take on it. The circle you see in the middle of the graves is likely a protection circle for casting spells. As an aside, please be careful when picking up spell objects like the jar. If you are superstitious, it may bring you some bad mojo- and if you aren't, they can occasionally contain unsavory things that are a health hazard. :/ Sadly, these particular cemeteries carry a lot of sadness for me. There's a lot of trauma deaths (mining accidents, tuberculosis, dreams of striking it rich- only to die penniless, etc) which leaves a lot of the folks buried here in a state of unrest. I'm hoping someday Central City will be able to raise funds to help clean up and preserve the history of this area. It would help the souls find peace, and keep the legacy of this area for future generations.

Thanks for the input on Wicca and it’s raw in the cemetery. Hopefully I’m on the side of Karma. So far so good. Thank you for your concern. I just wish people would stop stealing headstones and defacing it. And let the restless souls rest. I really appreciate you sharing your thoughts and thank you so much for watching. All the best.

It wasn't a coke oven. It was built by a man who's mother had died and had wished to be buried in Ireland. He had to store the body until spring when it could be shipped back to Ireland so he had this built to store her body. It was used afterwards to store bodies during the winter months while the ground was frozen. They would enclose it all the way with brick and then break it open in the spring.

This is the second location of the Central City cemetery. The first one was located on the East end of the High streets within the city. Erosion issues on the hillside and caskets sliding down the hill forced the cemetery to be moved to it's current location. Neighboring Nevadaville had the same issue. It's cemetery is now located at the Bald Hill cemetery.

As a kid, I would always go to this cemetery when my dad, brother and I went four wheeling or camping. I never knew that it was haunted nor the more hidden stones and area farther into the woods! This taught me more insight on its history and this place definitely brought me many memories from my childhood walking through it as a little girl.

I sang a wedding years ago at the church you see on the left at 1:24. Beautiful church, but it had no restrooms... the bride had to go down the street to one of the casinos to find a room where she could change into her wedding dress! (That may have changed since then!) Have also visited the Central City cemeteries, and the thing that most stood out in my mind was the absolute silence. It was incredibly peaceful. Never saw any kind of ghostly apparition, btw.

I was there this afternoon - there is a section in the catholic cemetery where there is like pillars with the letter “F” on top of them, I tried taking a picture of how the cemetery looked under all the snow and my screen went white for about 15 seconds. I tried taking another picture and I thought it was saved fine on my phone. When I went into my photo album, there was no record of me taking any pictures in this area. Took that as a sign of no more picture taking.

Central City Cemetery is beautiful! My first and sadly only visit was 10yrs ago over the 4th of July weekend. It was my last outing with my Aunt before she passed away in December of that year. Tho my aunt was to ill to explore. My uncle stopped to look around. The part we explored at first appeared to be small grouping of head stones. But the cemetery continued up the hill. (The cemetery by the abandoned mine) I was awestruck by the different grouping of headstone. 🥰

The 1st time that we went to Central City was in 2000. We were driving to Nevada from New York, and we stopped in Lyons, CO to visit my uncle. He took us to Central City. It still had a near ghost town/old west feel to it back then. The last time that we were there was in 2011. It no longer had that old west feel to it.

I've commented before, Doug, as your videos really hit home with me. I spent several months in Colorado in the early '70s, touring first (rode the Silverton train and loved every minute!) and camping with the van I bought when I went sports-car racing, outfitted with bench seat and jalousie windows, a curtain to draw across behind the cab seats, etc. I've been a model railroader and rail fan since the early '50s and had collected Bebbe and Clegg's "Narrow Gauge in the Rockies" and "Steamcars to the Comstock" to study early railroading in the West. Like you, I love the architecture of the 19th century, particularly the brick and stone structures, for the beautiful workmanship. Though I shouldn't be, finding the proliferation of tall modern structures that cover the landscape to be just---"uglification." The reason I should expect it is because the wonderful little Wisconsin village where I was born and lived the first 13 years of my life, population 936 the whole time, has exploded, via condos and other concrete _blah_ to more than 13,000 population, a "bedroom" community for Milwaukee. It's both nice and at the same time sad, to see this peaceful Holy ground, with its carefully crafted marker stones, neglected and mostly forgotten. Keep up the good work, mon ami, and be safe in your travels. Stay safe, everybody.

It's always a pleasure to hear from you and I hope this finds you well! I am very pleased that my videos hit home. I always get a kick out of model railways and admire the patience and skilled hand they require. I hope to have inspired some small portion of your building and creating (would be a great way to pay it forward). I am not a fan of what the Casinos do to the skyline, community, and historic sites. Fortunately, these communities are outliers and are sparsely populated. My home town is in a similar situation. Instead of growing corn, they are building condos and suburban homes. I am also disheartened to see a cemetery fall to ruin and hope to see some renewal project soon. Thank you for visiting and for leaving a comment. Please keep safe and be happy!

Good morning Doug🙂 that Definitely looked like a casino town more casinos there then in my much larger city, The old graveyard was amazing its unfortunate that noone ever really looks after these old sites its like because they are so old council's don't really care, i found it really interesting hearing about the different plots here i hadnt heard of the knights or thee other group till now, but knew of the freemasons and catholic,. When I first saw the ruins I instantly for of a woodshed lol how they have the runs for sharers to push the sheep down, but knew it had to more then you told us 🙂, thee other peice down thee bank looked like a really really old ladder, fascinating ghost stories to love it, have an fantastic week ahead mate

Hello, it's always great to hear from you! The city is a bit deceptive because less than 1,000 people live there. The buildings are large because they want to pack in as many tourists as possible. That's not to say we don't have large cities, we have over 6-Million residents in Colorado. However; this place is a bit like Disneyland (looks big but is deceptive in size). The locals like it because it keeps the tourist mostly contained in one area and the tourists feel like they found their own private metropolis. The sad part is the Casinos are supposed to pay for the upkeep of historic sites, like this. This is a big reason why I wanted to show the decay that is happening deep in the cemetery. The Knights of Pythia were new to me too, the more I find out about them, the more fascinated, I become. The woodshed is something I would not have thought of but is fascinating to me (we don't do much sheepherding in CO, so I know little about it). Thanks again for stopping by and for joining us for this trip. Keep smiling and be safe!

@@DerelictDoug +Hi Doug seems like most businesses that plea a promise to upkeep certain historical sites here and there, as soon as they get approved they forget or don't worry, like in my city our second oldest cemetary Waikumete many a ghost stories are told and ive my self seen and collected much evidence, point I ment was that its full of history and its 300 acres out of those 300 acres maybe 20 is looked after the rest is over grown and falling apart, in the unkept area though you'll find old soilders and many others with Amazing stories, even some not so nice stories but the council here dosnt look after it, its wrong i believe as citizens we pay taxes very high taxes to keep things looking nice etc, yet it gets looked over,. And the knights are definitely fascinating 🙂 have a fantastic week mate

i live down the street. It is a mausoleum that was built to store the bodies in winter because the ground is frozen and they can’t dig holes. So they would store the bodies in it. There are seven total cemeteries in this area. They are very old, and there are lots of babies,children and mostly young adults. It’s a sad place, and it is haunted. Several cemeteries here have activity in them.. very interesting place. I spend lots of time in them. They are very beautiful also in their own way

IS IT A GHOST??? Hello I just came upon your video having a lazy Sunday. It is amazing I love laying on the couch exploring l o l... BUT I also love creepy ghostly stuff. Need to know if you saw it or if it's something that you put in/ added to make it creepy or if it's real 🤔 Add around 15:42 as you're walking toward that weird Brown shaped thing. You can see something form black-and-white then as you get a little closer at 15:47. You see it fully form to what looks like a ghostly apparition of a person. Looks like something...🫨 I paused it And tried to make it out as you Continue to walk and talk and get closer it backs away and slowly disappears back inside...??? Then in the next scene at 15:51 it's completely gone. Do you see it?? Is it just me??? And what is that blue tipped thing You have in your hand at 15:46 lol

I have had a few experiences at the Knights of Pythious site. First time was right at the gates. The biggest orb Ive ever seen with my own eyes. Never forget it. Then a few years later we went up on a harvest moon. Stumbling around looking for the "witches" grave. We knew something was watching and following us. Ill never forget the feeling. After we get back to the car and turn the lights on and see the reflection two eyes just past the gate. I'll never forget the feeling that day / night. We spent a few hours there. I think something left with us. I'll never go back again.

I experienced weird stuff at the knights cemetery as well. I heard a woman screaming. And I laughed and said to my husband, "it was just an animal." I had weird feelings since the 2nd we walked into that cemetery. First, I got a weird call from a random number when I was filming a grave with a cat sun dialer on it, (this was towards the front of the cemetary). Then I kept asking my husband for us to go back (like to leave). As we continued further in, I just had an "unsettling"feeling ( feeling like being watched). Then I heard a sound, like a woman screaming "help me". My husband stopped and said, "what was that?" I laughed it off and said, "it was an animal". then I told him we need to go.( I know if I said it was a person screaming he would've continued in further into the cemetery trying to find the person).... so I was like, no were leaving NOW. . I had my dog with me and he could even feel my energy. Lol it was scary! But then the central city cemetery was right next to the knights one and we had no issues there. I do not recommend the knights of pythias cemetery lol there was no other weird encounters except for in that cemetery!!! There are 4, there's also the masonic cemetery which was creepy too. I couldn't stay at that one long.

@@Shannonxx37 I'm not familiar with the grave you are talking about. But there are sure a lot of interesting memorials up there. But that feeling of being watched is something Ill never forget. Just thinking about it gives me the creeps. We spent a few hours the 1st time I went up back in 2017. We followed it all the way up the hill to the very back where it eventually leads to a forest access road. One of the last memorials up there are a couple who past in the late 80s. They have a very nice site and a bench that overlooks all the cemetery's as well as Central City. But the area through the aspen groves is where I had the most unsettling feelings. I know something was watching us through there and all the way to the gates. Maybe one day Ill go back. But not anytime soon..

I believe the brick structure was where they stored the casket in the winter, because the ground was too hard. They would then bury the dead in the spring. Confused about this all being one big cemetery. Seems like there are several cemeteries... the Knights has it's own gates as does the Central City Cemetery, and the Catholic Cemetery... and the Odd fellows.. the Free mason cemetery is quite a distance from the others.. Please explain. Thank you !

That's a good suggestion for why the choking furnace is in a cemetery. However; this would not have kept the bodies cool, rather the structure would have broke the wind and kept them warm. It's more likely that the cemetery grew and encroached on to the furnace, not the other way around. Feel free to take a look at the plots on Google maps. you will see that the Central City Cemetery is comprised of many sub-plots, but they are all connected. They are however separated by a road way, but this has been true since the 1800s. Thanks for the insightful questions and thank for joining us. All the best!

Do we know what the brick structure is in the Catholic cemetery? Every time I’m there I try to figure it out. I’ve thought furnace too, but there doesn’t seem to be ventilation. I’ve noticed the inside walls are a bit charred, but I’ve thought that could be from modern people having fires in there
@DerelictDoug
@DerelictDoug 4 жыл бұрын
Everything is pointing to it being a "choking furnace" (they plugged the vent with a modern brick). These were used in the production of steel and would have been near mining sites. I don't know why it would be so close to the cemetery. I am beginning to wonder if this is the headstone of a "master-builder" of some sort. (especially because it looks unused). Thanks again for your thoughtful comments and please stay safe!

@@nolawhipsswhipss7416 I have relatives buried there who immigrated from Cornwall/Wales-- they lived in Russel Gulch (another nearby ghost town). Childhood accidents and disease was very common, and medical treatment was unavailable or just primitive. There are also many graves of infants... infant and maternal mortality was common. It was before antibiotics so even a simple scrape or a fall could be potentially fatal. The graves of the young always seem to weigh the heaviest on me (energetically). I recommend you check out the small cemetery that remains up in Russel Gulch!

I am one of those weirdos that finds solace in cemeteries. I love the history, especially the cemeteries in Central City. One year I was up there with a friend and my young daughter. She was maybe four or five, and unlike now (she’s 13) loved the outdoors. I remember we were by the farthest point of the cemetery, and my daughter tugged on my pant leg. She said “Momma, why is that man staring at me?” I looked around, I saw no man, and my friend was by the mine ruins. I asked her where the man was, she pointed to a tree fifteen feet away. She said he was tall, wearing a cowboy hat and was leaning against the tree. I took her hand, and we continued to walk. She looked back a few minutes later and was shocked when she saw the man was gone. She doesn’t see the spirits anymore but she does sense their presence. She’s become a fan of grave rubbings and always asks permission before she does the grave rubbing. She loves it up there, loves to take photos and like me, is very comfortable in cemeteries. Oh, and that pentacle has been there since this happened.
