It’s only an oil leak around the top of the engine, wheel bearings and a couple of steering & suspension components. All parts that need replacing on all cars eventually as they age. It doesn’t necessarily equate to “abuse” Yeah maybe you or I would have gotten on to it sooner, but let’s not wet the bed over normal bread and butter mechanical repairs and maintenance. How much did you say it’d cost again. $11,000 for that. That’s why I’ve got a workshop manual and the right tools (1996 petrol Prado) and I (Sparkie) keep it running like a clock.

Bread and butter more like salmon creme fraiche on Brioche. Yeah good on ya 1996 Prado, this isn't one of them

Indeed - a short video that reveals so much more than an uncared for Prado! A window into causes, effects, what to look for, what it costs to catch up (or not) and importantly, the reactions seeing this creates in us and in you Anthony! So sad to see such an unappreciated Prado.

unfortunately I have seen quite a few like this over the years working in the work shop and people still ask a lot of money for their vehicles thanks Barry.

Oh geeze, what a tragic sight. I have a buddy (Lou) has a 2018 Prado that's been North, South, East and West and everywhere in between. 200K on it and it still presents like new. Not a drip of oil to be seen anywhere. Regularly serviced every 6mths irrelevant of Km's travelled. Looks absolutely nothing like this mongrel...

Good fun 😂, i service/repair etc , we have some customers using Hilux etc in construction/ land management, gezz they ware them out fast, lots of dirt roads. Crappy roads. Rack ends big time. Lots of maintenance required. It’s amazing to see the worn areas compared to a normal everyday driver.

Did you pull the head off? Or did you do what we were taught in the Ford dealership? Pull the plastic seal out Clean Then use RTV silicon it was ultra blue and we squeezed it in from the outside while looking down at the timing chain inside stop squeezing when you see it on the inside and move along let it dry. Put it back together happy days never leaks again just the head gasket itself will leak and you’ll be doing it again later anyway. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Along with a sump Gasket Rear main seal Timing cover seal Power steering pump Power steering rack High-pressure power steering pressure switch Automatic transmission, selector shaft seal Transducer Pan gasket Back to the engine Rocker cover gasket half moon seals That pretty much covers it 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Gee how can it be? Problems with overpriced “bulletproof” Toyotas? Oh my.

Sparky by trade, I agree I wouldn't put my Dr's hands on that either 😂. How can someone be so ignorant to let their rig get into this sort of condition though? Vehicle abuse is akin to elderly abuse...

Yeah. Completely understandable not to work on that. Pll under estimate how difficult it is to find a good mechanic.
