Perfect topic! Good skiing teaches upper-lower body separation, and because of conversation of angular momentum, it is achieved exactly by counter rotation, no matter how subtle it is!

This one's tough, but I just figured out to go Left side cause of my surgically repaired and plated rt knee. Plus I'm 52 far too old to be trying to learn this shiz. But I can't help myself I'm going for it!

Thanks Jens. I have been throwing one arm almost straight up and the other arm comes back for a tail grab as I tilt the skis back. I like the movement and it feels “free”. Any thoughts on this… as my hands are definitely not level.

Looks like you have the line poles with the grab tabs. I've been looking at those but so many people say that the poles won't fall from your hands in a crash and you can injure your thumb (skiers thumb) what has your experience been with them?
@josht33266 жыл бұрын
Kaleb Rich To be honest, most of the time you’ll be okay when you crash with poles on a jump. You’d probably get hurt more if you let go of your poles and landed on them than if you held on to them, because it would be really weird for your poles to shift into i dangerous position if the were in your hands. I do think, however if you want to ride park and freestyle, you should go poll less. A few reasons why are that a lot of tricks eventually could have very bad consequences with poles. (Especially corks and flips). Also, a lot of people tend to like the look of tricks more without poles. They can also get in your way when you’re trying spins and grabs, and make it harder to control your arms in the air. I found that when I first went pole less, it felt weird because I was so used to the poles, but now that I ride pole less I could easily pick up some poles and do stuff just as easy. When you can comfortably ride pole less you can usually do both, but it can be a little difficult to do just as good on tricks without poles if you’re so used to using poles. Some freestyle competitions also ban poles so it’s good to be able to ride really good with or without them. It’s your choice in the end, but freestyle skiing is usually better without poles.

I actually broke my right hands thumb a couple years back with similar line poles when I crashed after a jump. But they are still pretty useful when it comes to grabs.
@kalebrich64716 жыл бұрын
Josh T Yes honestly I can't think of the last time I ever have really had to let my poles go in a crash on a jump. Maybe in a crash at high speed on a groomer or something

hey I am having a really hard time doing a shifty on the slopes, I’m new to freestyle skiing and its not really natural for me. Any tips ? I understand that I need to rotate the upper body one side and my legs the others, but even when I think about it while jumping, I’m not able land it.
