While the official criteria for a megastructure may be up for debate, they all have one thing in common: they are massive engineering undertakings and can take years upon years to complete, as well as billions of dollars. But if city planners, architects, designers, and scientists don’t look to the future, then who will? And while structures like, say, the Egyptian pyramids or the Great Wall of China have managed to withstand the time and continue to remain marvels of human ingenuity, there are plenty of megastructures today that will leave your jaw on the floor. And you can’t forget about all of the proposed megaprojects, some of which are quite literally out of this world. So join us for today’s video, where we take a look at the top 15 incredible megastructures!

I know you chose the Khan Shatyr Entertainment Center, but the whole city of Nur-Sultan itself is one impressive megaproject. I mean the Kazakh government completely redeveloped the city to make it the showcase city of the country once it was selected as the new capital. Complete with stylish landmarks and even a presidential palace. It's like how my grandpa rebuilt Pyongyang from the ground up after it was bombed by US forces during the war to make it the model city of Juche.

All those people wanting to build rings around the planet, you should check out "What if the Earth had Rings"? Among other things, shade around the rings, etc and many terrible things, so a few idiots could travel faster. It will be exceedingly difficult, if not impossible for those horrible things to be mitigated.

imagine living in an 82k seat stadium? Meaning its well over 100k capacity for concerts with standing room on the field. Once U2 played at the rose bowl in Pasadena CA and it took me nearly 2 hours to go 2 miles because the concert traffic and thats abou 1/3 if not less the size of this stadium. It would take you 7 hours to get home from work if a concert is happening.

2:36 and 2:42 These pics aren't from Dubai, this was the concept art for Big Snow at the American Dream Meadowlands mall in New Jersey...I know because I've been there lol (a Hard Rock Cafe hasn't opened there yet however). Not to mention, Dubai already has an indoor ski slope at the Mall of the Emirates called Ski Dubai. So I doubt they really need another one. Also, the Narendra Modi Stadium has a capacity of 132,000 while the FFR Grand Stade will have a capacity of like you said, over 80,000...Narendra Modi still wins

"In any system of energy, Control is what consumes energy the most. No energy store holds enough energy to extract an amount of energy equal to the total energy it stores. No system of energy can deliver sum useful energy in excess of the total energy put into constructing it. This universal truth applies to all systems. Energy, like time, flows from past to future".

Lol, felt like it's more of a fictional story than educational. You definitely stole the ring world idea from a movie. You were wrong about Genting Resorts in Malaysia, the one true major income of this business is the casino which could easily be double triple folds of their other businesses. However, you were right about the strategy of constructing it to feel like a huge plaza that has everything as the main goal was to encourage visitors to gamble in the casinos.
@JFrazer4303
@JFrazer4303 2 жыл бұрын
We had rockets that could have launched the space station in a short while, but we scrapped the production lines when we had forced on us the disastrous decision to use the Shuttle for all our space access. Still, much more streamlined and cheaper alternatives existed, like the Shuttle-C which would have lifted it in ~5 launches. Specifically because these means were cheaper and easier, they chose the ISS we have, specifically because it required a 40+ flight manifest from the Shuttle -the most complex, risky, and expensive space launch vehicle ever. The Shuttle and ISS are examples of how not to do things in space. They're examples of how to waste time doing little, while paying as much as possible to as many constituencies in as many congressional districts as possible. (Like the "Ford" class CVN) The video goes to fantasies like orbital rings and ringworlds, but don't mention O'Neill habitats. The '70s NASA Ames space settlement studies in the '70s established that there are no new inventions needed to start. The cost over 20+ years would be like many of these megastructures or any large industrial or infrastructure development down here. Maybe 4x the cost of the Apollo program (for reference, during the timescale of Apollo, the US spent as much on cosmetics and large States spent more on liquor). The first small habitat for ~10k workers would be done by ~'08, along with the launch and in-space infrastructure to reproduce it. See the "Stanford Torus" or O'Neill's "Island One" Bernal sphere habitat. The smaller space habitat the video shows is a very large, though entirely possible torus. As to expense, such questions are moot when the first entity returns from an NEA even a few kg of loosely sorted metals. They instantly and forever win the "game" of making money and they end the relevance of the scarcity model to raw materials or energy. Note also that the most accessible NEAs are the ones most likely to hit us some day, so factor into any cost/benefit analysis the fact that we'll be eliminating future global catastrophes. Aside from things done in space, future megastructures will be in recycling all the old cities and their landfills, and cleaning up the messes we've done down here, after we can move all our worst industries up there.

Save your breath my man. I'm waiting for at least a god damn camera on the moon, it's 2022 ! The ISS is supposedly the most advanced lab in the history, yet, not a single photo nor video of it's construction? xD 10-15 times they announced another "return" to the "moon" and mars, and suddenly a war breaks out, of course it's all accidental. ;)

The "world ring" would take unknown materials and unimaginable generations; of which we would probably have to find off planet to even begin. Not even one space elevator could be built due to the incredibly weight alone, even of a thin wire, to stretch past our atmosphere into space (this has already been postulated) without an entire diameter of the earth, of this 'ring' was made, probably of material engineering we don't even know yet, in order to support its weight without swaying and snapping at so many variables it would cause generational delays. "Impressive Megaprojects --in the World--" is telling and hilarious. We haven't even thought about how we get all that up there, or down here yet.

Why not mention that these so called marvelous structures - like the tallest building in the world in Dubai - have no sewage systems? They are very primitive. Imagine a building that size needing hundreds of trucks every day to come to remove all the waste and then dump it in the desert? Disgusting, not modern, and hardly impressive. Mega-Nonsense should be the title.

Accept the Lord Jesus Christ as he is the lam and is the hadjl, the gospel of your salvation. Not any religion can save you. We were all deceived by Satan and his devisions many people worship false Gods, follow false doctrine, have idols, worship deities and practise many religions. Jesus christ is not a religion and hated religion, as it is false. Catholics and al other nominations, Buddhist, Hinduism, New Age are all manmade beliefs based on each cultures and holy scriptures. There is only one that can save, as he rose from the dead, so we can defeat it also. The only prophet and the son of men of the living God written about in the KJV Holy Bible. The God of Israel. The God of all creation, The Word that was made flesh in Jesus Christ. Amen. Only born again Christians are on the path of salvation. It's you in Christ and Christ in you. By doing the will of God the father with help from the Holy spirit. Formost believing that he is the only anointed able to forgive sins, not the pope or bishop. They honour Mary and Saints over Jesus Christ, Emanuel, Son of Man, Prince of Peace, King of Kings, and Lord of Lords our true saviour. Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Believe in the finished work on the cross. Heal the sick and cast devils out. Do good works, but abide in his sabbath rest, as he abides with the spirit in you. 24/7. Have your mind renewed and do what Jesus says you should do. Amen. There is only one father and that is in heaven. We honour, Father son and Holy Spirit. Amen. I recommend, asking father God for truth and revelation and insight for a awakening. Amen keep up with the good work for the kingdom of God Praise the Lord Jesus Christ and his church and ministries, with regards to his saints, angels and prophets of righteousness. Bless Gods kingdom and his Holy spirit. Bless all the children on the earth, and the young, old and those with infirmities,and those suffering bondage, hunger, famine, war and imprisonment. I pray for the lost, all back sliders, and all The nations and its leaders. I pray for all my brothers and sisters in the faith, all unbelievers and sinners. I pray for my kids, family, extended family, friends neighbour's, enemies and those of Christ. Hallelujah praise his mighty name and bless those that read this. Jesus loves you all. Amen. X
