You can't get less efficinent than this using blocks I think. I'm pretty sure Minecraft block hitboxes only go to a minimum graduation of 1/16th of a block (a.k.a. one square of a block's texture). This staircase is 16 blocks across per 1 up, so it uses the minimum difference between block heights.

According to the time in the video, he started at 8:00 am and ended at 5:15 am. That’s 21 hours and 15 minutes in minecraft time. We can just convert it to real time by doing 50(21) + 0.833333(15) = 1062.5 seconds. Which is 17.708333 minutes in real time, or in more familiar terms, it’s exactly 17 minutes and 42.5 seconds

@@remcon559 it's actually a piece by Aaron Kenny called Gaiety in the Golden Age. It does not have a copyright attached to it though so it is a song anyone can use in a video without risking infringement. Edit: just to be sure it wasn't made for Grian's Barge Sweep I checked release date. The song was released in 2018. Grian's video came out 4 months ago in 2021. I cannot say whether or not Grian knows the composer irl or not, but the release dates seem to far apart too be made for each other

Yup, he travels 4590 blocks while going up only 256. Giving him a slope of 0.0557734205. Taking an inverse gives us our ratio. 0.0557734205^(-1) = 17.9296874933. So just under 18 blocks horizontally for every block up... Sorry, I 100% believed you but really wanted to check for myself. :3

@@MegaMisch You took the correct common sense result (there are 18 block before full step seen in the video) and did bad math to get a bad result, congrats :D From height 1 to 256 there are only 255 blocks up ;)

not really, it would become exponentially faster to build as youd be able to copy and paste all of what you have done
@lorcah2 жыл бұрын
yes but lining up where to paste the staircase and pasting it a block upwards than the last set of stairs and still even if you had the spacing lined up perfectly every time it would take a long time to paste them all considering the video is in 2x or so speed and it still takes some time for him to walk the whole staircase

@@lorcah If done properly, this can be built with 8 cloning steps, so walking it would definitely take longer
