After the hurricane Ian, I found 2 giant eastern murex shells, whole and beautiful, washed up on our beach, which typically has very few shells of any kind, let alone gastropods. I almost fell over--too bad it took a hurricane, but now I kind of understand why (deep water shell). TY for the video; I hope to get over to swfl sometime in the near future.

Thank you! I have a question, please? Is the Cabrits Murex more rare than the Rose Murex?

In SWFL the Cabrit is more rare to find than the Rose.

That’s interesting, thank you. I have yet to find a Rose Murex, but have found 3 Cabrit’s, I believe?

Wow! Where are you located? South Florida??
@douglasstemke2444 Жыл бұрын
I have found the Giant Eastern Murex on the beach both in Texas and up near Port St Joe in Florida, so it isn't necessarily that deep a shell.

Interesting… thanks for sharing!! Which beach in Florida? This is an unusual shell in the SWFL area. We’d love to hear where you found it!
