It's very interesting how they seem to have, I imagine very intentionally, forgotten to even mention the comments made by director Jonathan Glazer about the Israel-Palestine conflict in his Oscar speech. In a way, I'm not surprised: this is a program where the hosts act as if they were champions of high moral values, when, at a closer look, they just promote the most trite and safer ideas about politics and social affairs. I'm shocked any of these women thought the Trump "review" of Jimmy's performance was just a joke. Seriously?? If you know ANYTHING about Jimmy Kimmel you would know it was real. For starters, he wouldn't give Trump a gratuitous shout out on a world stage like that, even just to mock him. Secondly, Trump can't stand Jimmy because he (J) successfully mocks him almost every night in his monologue, so it was entirely predictable that Trump (who has zero self control) would go after him while the show was still on.

Angela Bassett really deserves an Oscar for her acting ( not just an honorary award). Unfortunately, she doesn't fit the usual profile Oscars uses for people who look like her-- regardless of talent. Oscars is very political and usually tries to continue a particular societal narrative and beauty standard. It is rarely about true talent. Although she wasnt in any movie that was nominated last night, it irks me that lesser known and less talented actresses win for specific types of roles. She has played the gamut , is a Yale educated actress and is GORGEOUS by every metric ( all the things that Oscar doesnt want to promote for certain types) but because Oscar wont award roles that promote positivity in certain segments of society, they refuse to award her one. They are fooling no one here. Not a soul. Cillian Murphy is very talented and certainly deserved his win for Oppenheimer. He was amazing in that movie. They DID manage to get that one correct.
