Well, it's really got nothing to do with being American; it's about knowing if it's appropriate for this *particular* show/network/airing time, etc. As an American, I've no idea this shows actual demo, so the only reason I know that type of language wouldn't be have to be censored is because I've simply seen enough clips here on KZbin. And you'll hear it all the time with foreign celebrities here on U.S. programs, asking whether or not they can use certain language or tell certain stories because, again, they won't be familiar with the program's demo or if it's considered more of a family or adult-oriented show, if it airs at night or in the daytime, or which age group the show's sponsors are going to be aimed at, etc.
