You cover it all. What bait, leader, line, reel, where to fish. The only thing you don't do is bait the hook for people. Great content, Thanks.

I've always found fishing for "bread and butter" species like whiting to be very under-rated by "serious" fishermen. I love catching a big fish but I will always have at least one lighter rig out as well. Often I'll catch 10 "trash" fish for every "good" fish and have more fun doing it. Push comes to shove, live whiting make good bait too.

Good morning my Bama Beach Bum friend, I just wanted to say how much I enjoy watching your videos, you're real. I'm a 68 year old lady from S. Fla, having been transplanted to S. Miss. Before I came here, all of my fishing gear, rods and tackle was stolen and only being on SS I haven't been able to afford to replace them 😟 fortunately I received my stimulas ck this morning and can't wait to replace them and get back to fishing. Thanks for sharing your fishing trips and tips with us and I'll let you know how it goes for me here on the Miss. coast 🤗😎

When I lived in Hawaii we used to hang bells on the rods so we didn’t have to keep starring at them and miss a bite maybe a idea to think of. Great videos keep them coming

An sometimes the line goes slack I tried my bells last year on the south Carolina coast an they was going off constantly cause the wind maybe if the wind didn't blowing it would be good but idk when we dont have wind on this side of the beach

I use bells for catfishing. It works great for that. I’ve found in surf fishing I usually end up tossing the bells back in the tackle box. Another thing I use for Night Cats in Rivers is Glow Sticks. A little electrical tape on the tip of the rod then you can chill by the fire

I am in MS and the same happened with me. I was about to start reeling in my rods to call it a day and my lightest rigged rod bent over like crazy and it was a slot red. Totally unexpected. He gave a hell of a fight and I had to be careful not to break the rod and the reel was barely pulling it in. Keep up telling us what your using because it helps us beginners.

Thanks for your videos. I was at Anna Maria last week and cleaned up on whiting. I am from the midwest and with your guidance I was able to get on some fish. My best day i caught 60 or 70 whiting. A couple were 13 to 14 inchers. I fried some up and they were awesome!

This is the best time of year for surf fishing the Northwest Gulf Coast! One year ago this month, perhaps to the day, I landed and recorded TWO personal best species! I was actually targeting Pompano. Which even though I did land five or six, over my 4 days of fishing, they weren't really tearin' em up yet. However, l did land my PB Whiting at a healthy 17.5 inches ( which is a BIG darn Whiting)! Then I landed my PB Bull Red at 31 - 32 inches ( My cooler top ruler only goes to 28 ). THEN, within the next 2hrs, I bested my own best with a shonuff Hoss of a Bull Red! I can only guesstimate his length at 37 to 39 inches. I didn't know they even got that damn big!

I surf fish the bama gulf coast for whiting year round. They taste good cooked/prepared a variety of different ways. Usually easy to locate....(a bit more difficult to locate during the winter but definitely doable). Most times I’m able to put at least 10 in the cooler over 10”. I just never get tired of it.

Great video as always. It might be of interest to know that even the large whiting are relatively young. I collected otoliths (ear bones) from a bunch of whiting and had them aged and even the 1lb+ whiting were no more than a year and a half old. Since there are no size or creel limits on them in Alabama, I personally keep just about any size I catch. They live fast and die young so like Mahi I think they are an excellent choice for filling a cooler. I don't live at the beach so when I get there I want to make the most of my time, and Whiting have been one of the most dependable bites in the spring and summer for me. Keep the great videos coming even if they do make me incredibly jealous!

@iancaen29773 жыл бұрын
Don't know about BBB, but I've had great success with size 2 circles...Mutu tournament light inlines are my go to. I also prefer single hook rigs so there are no loose hooks swinging around when I'm unhooking fish.

I still can’t believe 3 years ago I thought fishing from the beach was probably a waste of time. You had to take a boat out 20 miles to catch saltwater fish or at least a long pier. Then I started watching this guy catching all kinds of fish including some big ones right off the beach. Thanks Beach Bum for opening my eyes and opening up a new fun way to fish for me and my family.
@pittmanfh3 жыл бұрын
Jim, I thought the same thing. You always see somebody fishing from the shore, and they don't ever seem to be catching anything. But this guy is always fishing where there aren't a bunch of people swimming all around him. Plus he obviously knows what he's doing.
