The gold in Dahlonega, GA is almost 100% pure... right out of the ground. They recently discovered that the gold of the Mayans (Mexico) came from Dahlonega. The local Indian languages in the southeast share almost half of their word base with Mayan. Apparently, the Mayan empire stretched all through what is now the southern US. There are seven tribal areas in Florida with the word Maya as part of their name. (Including Miami with a minor spelling change.) Small world.

Less than 1 percent of gold prospectors are attempting to make a living. 99.9% of gold prospectors like me do it as a recreational activity. There are thousands of gold diggers in Georgia and exactly zero of them do it for profit.

I think private property is a different story. There are too many laws and regulations to keep up with and they change from place to place. All you can do is do your best to try to follow the laws and keep your fingers crossed.

Is there a way to contact you regarding a site specific area (and questions associated with it)? A little farther South of you, in central Georgia... Id like your thoughts on panning an area very close to the first gold mines in the United States.

Hey man, I’d like to meet up with you, and go check out a property I have near Dahlonega. According to my neighbor there are abandoned mines on the property; I think I found one. I am also on 1600 feet of Creek frontage, so if nothing else…we can at least cool off.

Was this private or public up there. I have been thinking of going up there to hit the creeks there. Would love to team up and learn a few tips from you. I found a couple of places that I have gone to and found so much garnets but no AU. Happy hunting and stay safe.
@goldiswhereyoufindit Жыл бұрын
This particular location was private as are most places I go. In this hobby as a Georgian you've got to network, do research and knock on doors for good spots. Yeah I've been several places that have garnets but are not on the gold belt.

@@goldiswhereyoufindit, Just found your channel. We used to deer hunt that whole area in late 70’- early 80’s. We had Jeeps and other 4 Wheel Drives that we did Extreme Off Roading. At the top of that mountain and joining ridge, a large old smelter/ rock crusher still standing in 1982. I think it was part of the old Calhoun Gold Mine. That gold started Clemson Univ! Calhoun was Vice President to Andrew Johnson, I think. There is a Bronze Plack at start of dirt rd close to GA 400 and Hwy 60. Designated as an Historic Site. That property was purchased by a wealthy stock holder of Coke Cola in 1980 or 81? There is a property manager that unloads has 12 gauge if you go up that rd too far. A bit of History to go with your fine video. 69 years exploring these mountains! Historic Sayin: “Thars Gold in thm thar hills”.

Cool colors. I used to go to crisson and get their bags all the time. Def need.tohit the rivers up that way.
@goldiswhereyoufindit Жыл бұрын
It's much easier to pan the material at Crisson's than it is at the actual creek. The gold is much smaller and the black sand makes it more difficult. I'd recommend buying an expert bag of paydirt from someone like Klesh so you can get a feel of what it's like to separate flour from heavy black sand.
@gary-bt6kg Жыл бұрын
@@goldiswhereyoufindit i already do what you do, just less.often and don't record it. Own a bunch of equipment and stuff. I'm a part timer. But the gold at crisson is nice and easy to pan also. I like to get in nature and enjoy it as.much as prospecting. Anyways stay safe and maybe I'll run into y'all sometime.
