Stood amazed while on holiday in Tenerife while a bloke did this the the grubby pavement outside a cafe, stunning. Not a single warning notice, cone or anything resembling a safety procedure in place, and he was piggybacked onto a street light for his electric supply.

We absolutely understand you. We always provide both safety training and safety equipment with each unit we sell, this training includes ways to deal with safety including scenarios while working in environments where other people are present. We provide all the necessary safety tools, such as protective barriers, goggles, curtains, special filters and so on. Needless to say, we are very strict regarding safety and compliance with laws in that matter - We frequently organize/provide laser safety training for other companies and we have a department focusing solely on the laser safety topic. Some people however, do not care about safety of theirs or others regardless of the possible dangers and there is nothing that can be done other than reporting them to the law enforcement. We are frequently beyond amazed seeing people in videos using class IV. laser systems without such a basic elementary safety equipment such as laser goggles. With that being said, none of our customers is from Tenerife/we haven't shipped any laser system to Tenerife, so it is likely someone purchasing a laser system from other company that is not being that thorough regarding laser safety, if they even touch that topic.

Technology is awesome but prices are way too high and the lifespan is way too short!!! Until this bridge is gapped you are just losing money. Just like the whole solar garbage, the life expectancy of a cell is 15 -25 years but it takes 20 years to offset the cost so if you are lucky you may actually get free electric for a couple years but 99.9% of the time the equipment breaks before hand. To manufacture electric vehicles and the batteries, 50% - 100% more pollution is SPEWED into the atmosphere and 15-20 years from now there will be a crisis of lithium waste which is toxic and as dangerous if not more than nuclear waste!!!

I work with lasers. People making these videos really need to start covering the potential hazards of using this such as reflections of the laser onto nearby people or the operator. Doesnt take much exposure to a laser to completely destroy eyesight. furthermore nobody explains that it is a direct source so anything in a "shadow" doesn't get affected at all so intricate shapes dont work so well.

steel contains carbon, all the carbon will be successfully evaporated from the steel of your boat. After that it is going to start rusting. The metal on the video is most likely aluminum, very highly reflective metal
@death_parade2 жыл бұрын
@@absolute___zero You sure about that "carbon evaporation theory"? There is this entire concept of laser peening that uses even more dwell or power in the laser than this device you know?
@absolute___zero2 жыл бұрын
@@death_parade well I just saw a video where a guy cleans steel, but what is happening is that the carbon is also evaporating, along with iron. The thing is that the oxide (rust) evaporates faster than steel because it doesnt have strenght of steel , but both atoms are flying off the surface when laser is applied, iron and carbon. (while rust molecule Fe2O3 is converted back to pure iron in a combustion reaction due to heat). Thats why you are seeing dark surface after it is cleaned by laser, there are traces of carbon there. All the laser does is just burning, same old thing. Probably the wavelength of laser diode is tuned for iron oxide, so steel is affected less, but I am absolutely sure that everything flies off the surface , the carbon, the iron and the iron oxide, that's how lasers work.
@death_parade2 жыл бұрын
@@absolute___zero Whatever is happening in the outer layer material is a combination of the following different mechanisms (ratio of each mechanism's contribution depending on the material being cleaned and the process parameters selected):- 1.) Ablation of the surface layer 2.) Impact: Thermal shock induced by the laser leading to stress waves that remove the material . If the absorptivity of the corrosion layer is more than the substrate, if the energy density for corrosion layer evaporation is less than energy density required for substrate evaporation and if you choose the right process parameters, it leads to a self-limiting cleaning, which doesn't ablate the substrate, much less thermally shock it. This happens in case of low power and higher pulse repetition frequency. Obviously, dwell times and number of passes have an impact as well. Anyways, I am still in the middle of studying it, but no carbon removal and targeting of only rust can be done if self-limiting cleaning is done, which probably wasn't the case in the video you mention. Maybe the process parameters chosen in that video were wrong, such as probably the energy density of the laser is chosen such that its greater than even the evaporation limit of the substrate, or maybe the dwell time is too high. Another thing, relying on contrast of the material surface after cleaning is not a reliable way to tell what happened there. . You can read more about it in this open-source paper: 10.26678/ABCM.COBEM2021.COB2021-0007
