I don't recall exactly what but I think they sped up that one section of the song. he mentioned something in an interview about how difficult it was to record that section. don't remember if he said they did it in one take or if they only got one good take because of difficulty or if it was done in sections to get around that but yea there's a reason he doesn't perform that song live.

@@hilarymol6607 Prince and at one time Coolio didn't think so. Michael Jackson certainly saw it as an honour. I'm pretty sure he let Al do parodies of his song at least twice and he let Alien Ant Farm cover his song because he actually loved what they did with it. It's these idiots who take themselves too seriously. Prince was a great musician and songwriter. But the guy took himself way too seriously. Most of his songs were about getting off. He actually had a song called Get Off. If the majority of your songs are about getting your freak on, you can't take yourself that seriously. He wrote some incredible songs, and his raunchiest song ever, Little Red Corvette, was brilliant because it got past the censors despite being the dirtiest, nastiest song of the 80s if not all time, but a lot of them were about one singular topic. He also got more pretentious after he converted to another religion. Some of these guys take themselves too seriously. At least Madonna's famous line was "I'm here to provoke people." She wasn't taking any of her music seriously. She knew who she was.

His band is PHENOMENAL. These are completely new recordings made with Al's band sounding exactly like the original. And they don't just work it out in the studio until it's right. Chamillionaire actually loved this song. "The multi-platinum artist is happy to hear the new version, and holds no grudges towards Al. Cham said, "He's actually rapping pretty good on it, it's crazy...He's Grammy-nominated, man. He goes platinum. It's really an honor when he does that. I remember when he redid Michael Jackson's 'Bad.' Weird Al is not gonna do a parody of your song if you're not doing it big. You gotta be a big dog. He shot the video, and people will see it pretty soon. It's crazy." Weird Al is highly regarded for his ability to closely mirror the original song, something impressed Chamillionaire as well. "He's spittin' just like Krayzie Bone on the second verse...It's actually very funny if you listen to what he's saying. The way Krayzie is harmonizing, he does the same thing. It surprised me. I didn't know he could rap like that." Im pretty sure he actually thanked Al in his award speech because this version got a lot of people to check out the original. As for Seth Green, he's a huge nerd and into collecting, so he fit perfectly. The guy dancing behind Al was Donnie Osmond, the epitome of white and cringe, so it worked as well.

@@bradturner8552Lol yeah.. came around when he saw how much more attention *his* song was getting because of the parody. That's the effect Al has and why sooooo many artists love when he parodies them. Because it not only means that 'they made it', but they *know* it will also boost the popularity of their original song. Its usually a win-win for the artist and Al.

4:01 Yes it is, a fully designed language for Star Trek, with a few thousand people knowing the fundamental basics, and less than 100 estimated fluent speakers worldwide. Fun fact: There was even a project to have a klingon version of the Wikipedia, cancelled, as it seemed to not fit the purpose. Another fun fact: The bing translator has klingon available, presenting the output in latin alphabet. QaQjaj jajlIj

Someone actually went through and did a mashup of this and Ridin Dirty. Every other beat, the song switches between each version. It’s friggin insane how on point Al was compared to the original lol. Big recommend to either Tacky or Foil next 👌🏽

Eat It and Another One Rides the Bus are two of my dad's favorite ones of Al's parodies. And in the Eat It video, Michael Jackson had loaned Al his iconic jacket from the Beat It video.

I'm absolutely loving your reactions to his music. I had this song on my MySpace page ages ago. Yes, Klingon is a race in Star Trek, and the language is a real thing that you can learn. (Yes, I'm white and nerdy) I'm nearly 50 and I've been listening to Weird Al since I was a teenager. "One More Minute" is one of my old favorites. As far as newer stuff goes, I'd recommend "Word Crimes".

Klingon is an actual language (yes, from Star Trek). Any good nerd is fluent in Klingon! (Full disclosure: I have a first edition version of the Klingon Dictionary in my library). Guess I’m too white and nerdy :) Al parodied Ridin’ Dirty video really well in this one. Using Key and Peele as gangsters and Donnie Osmond as his “backup dancer” is just another testament to Al’s genius.

Seth Green is funny and all, but it's Donny Osmond dancing through most of the last half of the video that made me laugh until I cried the first time I saw this. When he performs this in concert, he shows the video of Donny dancing on a screen at the back of the stage too. It's magnificent.

The best advice I can give anyone when digging into Weird Al is to do your research on what song he is parodying and watch that video right before you watch Weird Al’s video. Even if you do it off camera, you will appreciate the man 100 times more.

How did you miss Donny Osmond as Al's hype man? Mormon, star of "Joseph's Technicolored Dream Coat", was the white bread version of little Michael Jackson in the 1970 group the Osmond Brothers, later splintered off with his sister as the Donny & Marie singing duo? But I loved you loving this!
