And as amazing as all of his parodies are his original stuff and his covers are by far some of the best things he's ever done

I imagine it’’s relatively easy to form a rock band, and yet not sound like Nirvana. Or the Beetles. Much harder to do musical comedy and not sound like “Weird” Al. That said, check out Tim Minchin’s “Rock and Roll Nerd”, “Storm”, and “Three Minute Song”. And the Axis of Awesome’s “Four Chord Song.” There’s even an episode of South Park, when one of them realizes that every joke they’ve tried, the Simpsons did it better, years ago.

It's too bad you only react to Weird Al songs that you get a lot of comments on, because Al posted a live concert video of himself performing his original song, Germs. The reason I'd love to see you react to it is because you'd get to see what an amazing performer he is, plus you'd hear what an incredible song writer he is. People focus on his parodies and totally miss what a musical genius he is. Kurt Cobain knew, and wrote in his journal that Weird Al was a genius.

I think my favorite part of the music video is the fact that the animator took the opportunity to throw some shade at Alanis Morissette during Al's explanation what is and isn't irony. Al may or may have not had the Canadian singer's notorious song in mind when he penned those lyrics, but when the animator put rain on your wedding day on the Not Irony side, it was shots fired. And since I doubt anyone has requested this one yet, I'm going to suggest Harvey the Wonder Hamster. Out of Weird Al's catalog, this may be the one you can listen to without crying because it's too short to get the tear ducts flowing. Maybe you could do it as a double feature reaction with Mr. Frump in the Iron Lung, which is another short Al original that goes way back to his early days.

One of Al's best parodies. This is also extremely on-brand for him. He's been known to tweet about signs that say "10 items or less" instead of "10 items or fewer", etc. This video might also be the perfect one to make one small nitpick: you're pronouncing Al's last name as "Yank-o-vitcH," but it's actually pronounced "Yank-o-vicK". @@ddraiss That is very true, which is why the song "your pitiful" was never monetized, as I understand it permission was given for it to be on the "Straight out of Linwood" album, but the permission was withdrawn to release it after the video was already shot, so the video was released unmonetized. He felt that while he did not have approval, he still had the right to release it, particularly as the video had been done, he just felt it would be wrong (opinion not law) to make money off it still. There were other famous songs that were refused one of the most famous was Paul McCartney's "live and let die" which Al wanted to do as "Chicken Pot Pie" - McCartney being a vegetarian didn't approve. Weird Al famously had a long running feud with Prince who consistently refused permission to parody his songs.

Pretty sure it was just Prince refusing to allow him to parody any of his songs any time he was asked, Al did not need permission but always requested it and if told no he didn't record a parody of their song, and he still hasn't parodied Prince to this day.
